Miguel has been your best friend since college, you went everywhere together no matter what. People always thought you two were dating, but you and Miguel would just laugh and explain to them that you're just friends.

You wouldn't lie, sometimes you would imagine being with Miguel which was absolutely crazy, because he was your best friend but there was just something about him that drew you to him. Maybe it was him always protecting you or treating you like you're the only girl in the world. Even if that was your reasoning it would never work out between you too.

Once you both graduated from college you both started drifting apart, especially with Miguel becoming the leader of the Galindo Cartel and you starting your own company. Neither of you were mad about the drifting apart just disappointed.

You saw Miguel a few years back at a restaurant with a blonde-haired woman, that you supposed was his wife. You wanted to go up to him and rekindle the friendship you desperately missed but you could tell there was something different about your Mikey something was off with him but you just pushed it aside and continued your dinner with one of your business partners.

Fast forward to today, you're currently standing on the steps of Miguel's home looking down at the paper with his address on it. You knock on the door taking a deep breath nervous and excited about seeing him after all these years. A few seconds later you hear the door being unlocked and opened. You look up at him smiling seeing the same blonde haired women from the restaurant that night.

"Y/N?" He looks at you in shock and smiles.

"Mikey!" You smile and hug him in excitement. He tightly hugs you back and kisses your forehead.

"How have you been cariño?"

"I've been well it's so good to see you after all these-" you hear someone clear their throat and notice his wife looking at you with confusion and a little jealousy.

"I'm so sorry how rude of me, I'm Y/n, an old friend of Miguel's from college." You reach your hand out for a hand shake and she lightly shakes it.

"I'm Emily, Miguel's wife." She shows you her ring. You politely smile not wanting to be disrespectful.

"Nice to meet you Emily and lovely ring." She plasters a fake smile on her face and holds Miguel's hand.

"Come in Y/N, we can catch up in my office." He lets go of Emily's hand and kisses her forehead and leads you to his office.

You get to his office and look around. "Wow Mikey this office is impressive." He smiles coming to sit in his chair across from you.

"Please, take a seat we have plenty of catching up to do." You nod and take your seat in front of him. He gently grabs your hands.

"It's been forever cariño last time I saw you was the night of our college graduation I'm sorry I didn't keep in touch it's just my life changed that night and I didn't want you to see me as THE Miguel Galindo, I wanted you to see me as Mikey, your best friend."

"It's okay Mikey, that's the past and no matter what you'll still always be my best friend." Miguel kisses your hand and you smile.

You look at the picture on his desk of him and Emily holding a baby.

"Your wife seems lovely even though I can tell she hates my guts and who is this little cutie?" You point at the baby.

"Emily doesn't hate you she's just been on edge here lately, and that's my son Cristobal." He smiles at the picture. "Do you have any children?"

"Um no my life is too hectic for me to settle down right now." He nods knowing your lying but doesn't want to pressure you into telling him. Miguel could always read you like the back of his hand.

He gets up from his seat and sits on the edge of the table in front of you with his arms crossed over his chest.

"You haven't changed one bit except for the facial hair and your happiness."

He laughs touching his facial hair. "What do you mean my happiness Y/N I am very happy with my self and the life I'm living."

"Don't lie to me you look exhausted with this life and the only thing that seems to keep you going is your family." He doesn't say anything and just looks at you with a blank expression."

"Thank you for your concern cariño, but I'm fine." You just nod and look around his office some more.

After taking a break from the heart felt conversation you and Miguel talk about your college memories for awhile until there was a knock at the door.

"Come in." He says you turn around to see Emily and she walks over to Miguel and whispers something in his ear, he nods and stands up.

"I hate to cut this short Y/N but I have some businesses to attend to."

"No it's fine I have a meeting to attend to in an hour, but it was great seeing you and meeting Emily." You lightly smile at her as she looks at you and doesn't say anything.

He smiles and nods. "great seeing you too cariño, I'll walk you to the door."

"Okay thank you Mikey." He leads you out of the office to the front door.

You take his hand in yours, writing your phone number on his hand. You can't help but smile as you write the number as it brings back so many memories."Call me sometime we can catch up over lunch."

"Okay, I will be calling soon."

You nod and hug him one last time. "Take care Miguel."

He hugs you back and kisses your forehead. "You too Y/N."

You exit his home and drive away, with Miguel watching.

"See you soon cariño."
