Chapter 12 - Date

I lay on the floor, completely stressed and already mentally exhausted

Why?

I can't decide what to wear for my date with Yuno.

It's our day off so we don't have to wear our uniforms or anything but should I wear my cloak? What if he's wearing his and I just look stupid? I let out a sigh as I flop back on my bed. I'm supposed to meet him in front of the fountain at 10 and it's 9:30 right now. I sigh, remembering I can't ask Mimosa for help because she went out to the capital to meet Asta and Noelle.

'Ugh if I don't figure this out now I'll panic even more and then I'll be late and ahhhhh' I run my hands through my h/c hair and sigh. 'Y/n you're perfectly capable of picking an outfit for an afternoon' I look outside the window and notice is a little bit cloudy. I decide on a f/c knitted sweater with black leggings and black boots. I leave my hair down and fix my make up, making sure to watch the time. A breath of relief escapes my lips as I finish just before 9:55.

Making my way outside I see Yuno also making his way to the fountain. I sneak behind him, making him flinch a little as I wrap my arms around his figure.

"Gotcha" A wide smile forms on my face and I let out a giggle. Yuno lets out a soft laugh before ruffling my hair

"You got me" he grabs my hand and we make our way to the capital on his broom. I lean my head on his shoulder as the crisp wind blows my hair back as we fly. I remove my hands from his shoulders, raising them high as if I was some five year old at an amusement park. Yuno turns around, rolling his eyes at my childish antics

"You've been on a broom many times before what's so different about this one"

I shrug. "Dunno, just feels different and a lot more fun"

"You're such a kid sometimes Y/n"

"I know, and I don't care. I'm still a teenager so I can still enjoy my time left" my eyes shut as I let out a cry of excitement. Yuno shakes his head but makes the broom go faster, causing me to let out a loud laugh.

We arrive at the capital and jump off the broom. Neither of us are wearing our Golden Dawn uniforms, but after the events of yesterday, I'm fairly certain that everyone knows who we are. Yuno and I interlace hands and start walking through the streets, almost mimicking our actions from last night, however we're both a lot more confident about it.

"Where do you want to go first?" Yuno asked

"Hmm well it's pretty early right now so I think lunch can wait, oh there's someone I want you to meet! Come on" I pull Yuno's arm and we walk towards the shop with Miss Chiyo's shop. I'm about to speak again when a deafening scream erupts from deeper inside the capitol. We exchange glances and start running towards the general direction we heard it from. Just up ahead we see a woman crying. She notices us, eyes widening and weeping

"P-Please Magic Knights...get my granddaughter back" She points at an alley where I see a hooded figure quickly racing into. Yuno helps her up while I chase after him, taking out my Grimoire

"Game over buddy, Dark Magic: Shadow Binding" I trap him with my spell and he lets out a scream on fear as I lift him high into the air. The girl falls out from his grasp and Yuno uses his wind magic to let her down safely. She runs to her grandmother, quickly jumping into her arms causing me to smile

"Thank you" She bows. The little girl waves at us and I smile back, then make eye contact with Yuno.

"Who did you want me to meet?"

"Oh she's a shop owner. Her name is Miss Chiyo, she's very nice and sells all sorts of teas" I stop for a minute. "...butttt we're pretty far from her shop at this point. Maybe we should walk around and shop a little bit"

"Sure" Yuno grabs my hand, taking me to the different shops to see what was selling. We get a decent salary for being magic knights and being that both him and I save up our money, let's just say we have a good bit of it. I ended up picking out a few more clothes for days off, going out with friends, or future dates....and some cute pieces of jewelry. Yuno sends me a small smile, interlacing our hands again.

"Ready to go eat?"

"Yep!" I giggle as we walk back towards the way we came to the restaurant. Just as we are going to walk inside, an old man runs up to us, a frantic and fearful expression adorning his face and falls on his knees.

"Magic Knights! Please help me!" I let out a sigh and look at Yuno, who wears a somewhat bothered expression on his face.

The man had us chase down a robber that stole a few things from his shop, which was fairly easy. Then, a mother came up to us about her missing child, and a noble asked us 'take care of the peasants' which Yuno and I happily declined.

"Sheesh it's like we can't even catch a break today" I sigh, dropping in front of the fountain

"And this was supposed to be our day off" Yuno sits next to me as I let out a sigh of exhaustion. 

"We've been running around all day, it's already almost 5..."

'Miss Chiyo's shop is probably closed by now'

"Let's go to meet that woman you were talking about" Yuno suggests

"Huh? But her shop is most likely already closed"

"Doesn't hurt to check. If she's not there, the restaurant is just across the street, so we can eat"

I nod and we start walking towards her shop. Most of the people have started leaving seeing as that the sun is beginning to set and most children have a curfew. We approach her shop and to my surprise, it's still open. 

"Welcome Y/n, it's always a pleasure" Miss Chiyo speaks without even seeing me. She finally turns, sending me a soft smile and I return the gesture. "And who is this?"

"Miss Chiyo, this is my boyfriend Yuno. Yuno, this is Miss Chiyo. She gives me teas that have healing properties that I usually take on missions"

"That explains how you healed so fast in Hage. It's a pleasure to meet you Miss Chiyo" He bows

"My what a polite fellow. Truth be told, I knew you both were coming, it's why I kept my shop open a little longer"

"Miss Chiyo gets visions before things happen. It's how she knew I was here before even looking back at me"

Yuno nods. "I also know you two have been running around the capital the whole day helping people, even though it's your day off. Here, I brought this basket of food for you" She reaches under her desk and pulls out a large picnic basket as the smell of food fills my nose, causing my stomach to rumble. "Go outside and enjoy, I have to close up shop anyways"

"Thank you Miss Chiyo! I'll be back soon, get home safe!" Yuno and I bow and take seats at an outdoor table to eat our food. 

We finish about 30 minutes later and decide that it's probably time to go back to headquarters. On the way this time I sit behind him, my arms wrapped around his torso, embracing him tightly. I feel his breath steady as I close my eyes starting to close and my body relaxes against him. 

"Thanks for today Yuno...I had fun" I mutter before entering a deep slumber

~Dream~

"Ugh you again? I'm getting really tired of seeing you" I roll my eyes, placing my hands on my hips

"You didn't listen to me. You've made your choice, and you will face the consequences" The man disappears and I let out a breath

I wake up in my own room, Yuno sleeping soundly beside me. A small smile forms on my face, but as I look out my window, I can't help but notice that the night seems a lot darker tonight. A chill runs down my spine as I take a nervous breath. 

'I sense a storm brewing'
