HER MOTHER WATCHED AS her child was picked up by the petite, tall nurse. her face turned into shock when she had saw her child's face, for her face was sunkissed with specks of gold on her small face. her eyes were glossy with tears, her head filled with thoughts that were unbearable to think. the nurse took quick notice of her reactions, and ushered over to her to give the golden child. "here she is." the nurse softly said. she gave the child to the mid 20's woman, slightly smiling at her, and quickly leaving the room before she would have to take her away again.
(y/n)'s mother swooned at her newborn child, wiping away the gold on her face, mumbling sweet nothings to her. she examined every feature of her face, her long eyelashes, her freckles, her small button nose, her soft plump lips, and her gorgeous, glowing eyes. "she's so beautiful." she whispered to herself. the nurse came in with a companion, a doctor. (y/n)'s mother snapped her head up, greeting the two doctors. "hello doctors, is everything alright? do you need my baby now?" the two co-workers looked at each other almost frantically, nodding to each other, giving (y/n)'s mother a signal that something wasn't right with her child.
"what's wrong with her? will she live? is she okay?" she spewed out with questions, just like what any mother would do if their child wasn't physically well at birth. the doctor stepped up to the plate, "ma'am, we're not sure what's wrong with your child, we just know that the golden specks on your child's face is in no way normal. we don't know what it is, but it could be harmful, or it could not. there's a 50/50 chance about it being harmful." her face was quickly laced with tears, and concern for her child. "take her." she quickly said, wanting to get over it.
the nurse took the delicate child out of her arm's grasp and gave a sympathetic smile, "we'll be back asap."
hours had passed, and (y/n)'s mother left the hospital, due to the nurse and doctor being persistent about her staying in the hospital. she was now sitting at home, alone and worried. she couldn't even munch down three bites of the food she ordered. she just wanted her child, in her arms, safe and secure. her tears slowly started to flow freely on her face, leaving her numb and untouchable. but, as her last tear had fallen, her phone started to ring, without even looking at the number, she quickly picked up the phone and pressed the speakerphone button.
CALLER XXX-XXX-XXXX
ACCEPT OR DECLINE?
(mother's name)
hello?caz
hello!! is this (mother's name)?(mother's name)
yes. is my baby okay?caz
yes she is. but we've made some very important findings. however, you will need to come to the hospital to let us discuss it.(mother's name)
is there anything you could say over the phone?caz
for the most part, she's okay. but there's something special about her that is urgent. please come right now.END CALL.
she quickly grabbed her car keys and ran to her car. the keys were put into the ignition and she quickly drove off to the hospital. in a matter of ten minutes, she had reached the hospital, and quickly checked in with the front desk nurse. she entered the room with the nurse and the doctor, she scanned the room to see if her baby was there, somewhere in the midst of the room. alas, she found her child sleeping peacefully in the little bed. after she saw her child, she went back and sat down on the chair provided. the doctor opened his mouth, "ma'am, your child is a blessing from the gods. after conducting multiple experiments, that didn't hurt the child, of course. we have found out that the yellow stains appearing, are traces of gold. which means in simple form, your child, cries gold. i have never found this before in my whole career, nor have i even thought about it. fortunately, this doesn't affect her in any way. perhaps she may need a bit more love and care for her body, but nothing too extreme. however, i do have bad news to lay on you."
he paused.
"furthermore, we may have to keep her for at least a month to make sure nothing goes wrong. we tried to find as many things that we could in the span of those few hours, but we only found out few key components." the elephant in the room became more apparent than it was, her baby was going to be separated from her for at least a month. "can i at least have her for just one week. one week is all i ask from you." (mother's name) trembled, she hated the fact that she had to live without her child for at least a month. at least. she could barley handle a couple hours, how could she live without her for a month, or worse, multiple. "ma'am i'm-" the doctor was interjected by the nurse, "yes, you may take her."
she walked over to the little, standing bed and carefully took the small baby into her hands. "i'm going to name you (y/n)." (mother's name) went to the nurse and smiled with tears in her eyes, "thank you." the nurse smiled and patted her back, "us mother's have to stick together, don't we." she winked and ushered her to go and spend time with her newborn. (mother's name) went to the parking garage and placed her child in the car seat she had already placed before-hand. (mother's name) buckled her up and gently shook the seat to make sure that it was safely secured. after she had made sure, she closed the car door and started the car.
when they got home, she finally earned an appetite and ate the rest of the food she had ordered earlier. her child was placed in the crib in the nursery, sleeping quietly. this went on for the remaining week she had with her.
5 WEEKS LATER
the awaited day had finally come for (mother's name), the day she would finally get her child back for good. her phone sat in the palm of her sweaty hands, her eyes constantly checking to see if someone was going to call. finally, after hours of waiting, at 19:45, she got a call from caz, saying that experiments were over, and that they had finished earlier than expected. (mother's name) was forever grateful to (nurse's name), they were now the iconic mom duo. (mother's name) sped over to the hospital, eager to see (y/n) again. she greeted the familiar lady at the front desk and signaled to her that she was going to the room.
she entered the familiar room, greeting the two doctors and smiling at them. she bowed her head, "thank you. thank you so much. is she okay? does everything check out for her?" she bombarded the two with questions, even though she had talked to the both of them every week, "yes (mother's name). as we've told you, she is completely fine, she just needs more food and water than the average person." caz chuckled. "thank the gods." she rejoiced, she could finally take her back home and give her a proper childhood. caz took (y/n) out of the tiny bed and gave her to (mother's name), just as she did the first day. "don't be too preoccupied with her, come and visit us every once in a while yeah?" (mother's name) laughed slightly, "obviously caz."
(y/n) was finally home.
