Chapter 1 Katrina Baluyot

Katrina Baluyot was born on 1936. Manila Philippines. Her mother and father never got along when Katrina was born. Katrina's mother never really loved her like her father did. Her father adored everything about her. Just when Katrina turned 3 her father past away due to being very ill. Her mother was now in custody of her. Katrina was scared. Her and her mother never got along. The family was poor and didn't have much to eat. When they had the chance to eat her mother never fed her. Later on Katrina's mother worked as a nurse and cook for the soldiers. That meant she had to take Katrina with her. There were babysitters for Katrina.

First day of work. Katrina's mother took her and gave her to a babysitter named Tristan. Tristan looked at the girls body and realized how small and thin Katrina was. Katrina smiles at the boy. Tristan said "Kumain ka ba?" (Did you eat?) Katrina shakes her head. Tristan was the first to take of her. Tristan became like an older brother and took care of Katrina more than her mother ever did. One time Katrina begged for food her mother pushed her. Tristan quickly goes to Katrina and carries her. "Halika na" (come on) Tristan said. Tristan took Katrina into his own home and fed her. He sits her down and takes a look at her. He thinks how sad it is for her to always be abandoned by her own mother.

Ariel was Tristan's girlfriend. Ariel would also take care of Katrina. Every time Katrina wanted to play with her mother. Her mother wouldn't play and would tell her to go away. Ariel was there to play with Katrina anytime.

Gigi was Ariel's sister. Gigi was another person that took care of Katrina. Katrina was need of clothes and shoes. Gigi was the one that made Katrina clothes and gave her shoes. Katrina's mother would make Katrina wear the same thing over and over.

Katrina's friend would take care of her. It was never her mother.
