What exactly does one do when someone is going to send a threatening call to one's step-mother?
I tackled him. Full on. And he hit the floor. And I grabbed my phone.
"I'm starting to get mad at you!" I warned, quickly locking my phone.
Charlie smirked, "You're too funny."
"That's not nice," I said, getting off of him.
Because, yes, we were lying in a pile, and I was on top of him.
"Not so fast, you have to apologize," he said, grabbing my shoulders and holding me still.
"I'm sorry," I said quickly.
"That didn't sound sincere," he complained.
"I am so sorry, I don't even know how to sound sincere enough," I smiled. "Now let me go."
"Um... no," he refused.
"You're going to be so squashed," I warned him.
"Yeah, not going to happen. My brother weighs more than you and he's tackled me harder," Charlie chuckled.
"You have a brother?" I asked.
"Yeah, Ryan. He's twenty-one," he said.
"Can you let me go now?" I asked sweetly.
"Um... no," he said again.
I stared at him, "Please?"
He sighed, "Fine."
I got up, and he sprang to his feet, "We should probably go."
"Yeah, the school will close soon," I checked my watch and realized how late it was.
"Not yet, I want to ask you something," he said.
"Okay, what?" I asked.
"Would you be okay if we annonced you as the Spring Dance Queen or whatever?" he asked.
"Uh, sure, if that's what I am, I don't really care," I said.
Charlie just stood there with a smirk on his face.
"What now?" I asked, flustered.
"You."
"What about me?"
"You getting all hot and bothered because you don't know what I'm thinking."
"I am not getting all hot and bothered because I don't know what you're thinking! I'm just a little confused as to why you're staring at me!"
"I'm staring at you because I'm thinking."
"I give up, you're too confusing."
"What do you want to know?"
"What are you thinking about that makes you stare at me?"
"I was just thinking about your eyes, and that requires me to stare at them."
"That's not creepy at all," I muttered, rolling my eyes.
He just laughed, "Okay, we can go now."
We walked out of the copy room, and school had ended forty-five minutes ago. Still, there were quite a few students about giving us odd looks. We said good-bye to Reuben, who apologized for everything he had said, and got into Charlie's car.
