_______

The worst part about living in London when you're the ex of a British superstar is that you literally cannot get away from them.

Harry is everywhere. He's on billboards and buses, his new music is all over the radio and his stupid, perfect face is plastered all over the United Kingdom.

I thought about moving, but I realized that back home in America, they're even crazier about him than they are here, if that makes any sense. So, I dug in my heels and tried my best to focus on my work. Being a wedding planner tied up in a celebrity scandal a few months ago really brought me some exposure and much needed business.

And somehow I worked my way through things. Now, with a thriving business I'm a bit more relaxed, and I've finally begun to take some time off every now and then. And now, as I sit here at Jack's college graduation with Maddie and my new boyfriend Sam, I realize that I've come a long way and I have a lot to be proud of.

"Look, there he is!" Maddie poked me in the side, pointing to Jack as he walked across the stage. We were sitting with Jack's parents, who were genuinely surprised he managed to graduate in the first place, and his girlfriend Cora, who he, against all odds, managed to win over at that party a few months back.

Thinking about coaching him that night reminded me of my first real night that I spent with Harry at his house. When he made me homemade pizza, and we talked about life, love, and the future. I'd never felt more connected to someone before. Then, it all went sideways.

"Babe, don't forget the picture." Sam whispered to me, and I snapped out of my thoughts. I forgot I was supposed to get a nice picture of Jack walking the stage. I nodded and pulled out my phone, waving toward him so he'd look at me. Jack noticed my hand and smiled at the camera. I snapped the photo and gave him a thumbs up before sitting back down between Sam and Maddie.

As the ceremony went along after Jack had walked the stage, I found myself getting bored. I began to scroll through twitter, only to see that Harry was tweeting about going on tour next year. Of course, his life had to be perfect, didn't it? New album out, the singles are doing amazing, and I bet that he even has a girl in the picture too.

As much as I didn't want it to bother me, it did. How could it not? It was supposed to be me, and I'm not an idiot, I know that half the album is about me. Adore You has lyrics that were inspired by my trip to California with him months ago. Our entire relationship seems like some sort of fever dream. Like it never happened, or that it was just too good to ever have happened.

"You okay?" Sam nudged my side and I nodded, trying to last the rest of the ceremony and not think about Harry.

"Ev, this is amazing." Jack grinned, walking into his fully furnished, brand new office, right beside mine. Since graduating from college with a business degree, I hired him to work marketing and stuff for the business. He agreed immediately, and I promised him a brand new office would be waiting for him on his first day.

"I'm glad you like it." I smiled, walking across the hall to my office. From my desk, if both of our doors were open, you could see his desk as well. "Ev this is sick, we can play like, pass, through the hall and stuff." Jack laughed. "We can do that after I see you do some work." I laughed, opening up my laptop.

I had to hire a new receptionist too, and that was a painful process. Since Jack was being promoted, I found myself in an urgent situation, which is never good when hiring. It kind of makes you rush and want to hire the first person you meet, which can also be bad. But, I was able to hire someone who seemed to be quite capable and pleasant.
