Chapter 5: My Family or My Adoption

Hermione POV

I'm standing outside the entrance of the staircase leading up to the Headmistress's office, waiting for Harry or McGonagall's patronus charm. The morning became extremely odd to not only me but to Harry as well. After getting up to ready myself for my busy day and travel after my meeting, I finished packing for my search for my adopted parents (their somewhere in Australia) later this evening. Then I finally had the time to write back to my pen-pal and his parents on the updates of Freddie, it took me a while to figure out my response to Fred's game but it didn't really take me long to write. After sending the letters off with the Weasley's new owl, I heard almost silent tapping on Ginny and my door... I looked to her bed to find that she was already up, probably downstairs starting on breakfast.

When opening the door I met eyes with Harry and of course I did take notice that he was wearing his father's watch that his mother gave him last night along with the news of his twin sister and her father's locket given by their mother. He explained that his sister's necklace flew into our room and might be trying to search for her itself. I reminded him that he could just apparate to it by tapping his watch, he did as was told but nothing happened. So we all got ready, ate breakfast made by Ginny and I, and apparated to Hogwarts. Everyone went to their rebuilding destinations while Harry and I ran all the way to McGonagall's new office.

With 5 minutes to spare we walked up together, but instead of the headmistress we gratefully waited to greet us at the door. It opened to Professor Snape, alive and well. We had thought we watched him die in the boat house during the war but I guess someone or something must have saved him from death after we left him. When we walked in with Snape we were greeted with an empty room. While we all waited for McGonagall, Harry thought it was best to ask him now about his mother and sister. Snape explained that after Hogwarts, he and Harry's mother met up at one of many places they had relaxed in when attending school. Snape told her that he was jealous of Lily and mad at the world that included James (Harry's father) in, and when Lily chose James over him it broke him entirely that he had no idea what to do. After a few months, James had done something and she went to Snape's house for comfort and it was the only place that James wouldn't think she would have gone to.

She spent a night or two at Snape's and forgave him for everything that happened, later that night an unplanned romantic feel came between them and things went out of control the next day. She then came back months later to tell him about his daughter with Harry in her hands. When he decided to be a part of his daughter's life, everything was ruined... Lily and James were dead, Harry was crying in his crib with a new scar on his head and there was no sign of Jasmine anywhere in the house, so he assumed that she was dead too. When Snape was about done with his side of the story, the door opened to McGonagall ready to tell them what had happened to Jasmine. She assured me out of the room and told me to wait in the hall for them, then I left and I'm still waiting for what seemed like an hour... maybe two at most.

I started getting bored so I stared out at the new view windows that they had made during the earlier rebuilding. I could never really get tired of the view around this school, I started searching in my bag for my muggle camera when someone tapped me on the shoulder. Turning around I saw Professor Snape and Harry, they gave me strange looks. Snape was looking at me as if the love of his life was standing right behind me while Harry gave me a look like he knew something I didn't, which is rare by the way. I was the first to speak up since the boys were still in shock...

Snape's POV

During this long meeting, Minerva had explained to Harry and I that when Lily and James died, Remus had taken Jasmine away and was ordered to put a facial feature charm on her. Giving her similar features to her adopted parents, if she was ever given any parents... Remus took her to an orphanage instead of having Lily's family or her muggle friends take her due to the many wizards chasing after her and Potter.
