The crowd cheered with excitement. Waiting for the executioner to cut off her head.
Mother, fathers, children watched in awe, as the tall armored man stepped onto the stage.
The woman who was to be killed had long siler hair and deep brown eyes that stared sadly at the crowd as they yelled over and over, "Witch, witch, witch!"
Will no one do something? I wondered.
But I had already known the answer.
They would watch, they would all just watch as a woman who had done no harm was murdered.
So that's why I was here.
Mayor Bingley came out of a small cavern house and started to clear his throat so he could speak.
"Ingram Mere," he said, "You have been convicted of witchcraft and acts seeming of and like a witch. By the order of King Gringhams law you are hereby guilty of all charges."
I pushed my way through the crowd of people, nearing the stage.
"Do you have any last confessions to say before God, Mrs. Ingram?"
The crowd was still shouting and the mayor smiled smugly at Ingram.
Ingram had no reply and her eyes fell on me. The wind blew my thick black hair around my face as I smiled at Ingram.
"No words?" The Mayor asked, "Fine, execute her!" He yelled.
The executioner stepped forward readying his ax.
Wind swirled through the air as my spirit called for it and I seemed to lose myself as I felt power grow within me. Whch is the feeling I usually got when using magic.
I felt the rush of wind envelop than slip past me as it scattered toward Ingram.
Ingram continued to look at me with a mere curiosity in her eyes as if she was curious to what I would do.
The crowd cheered. The wind blew. The executioner let down his ax and my mind was no longer my own.
The wind threw the executioner backward into the crowd of people, Ingram was released from her chains and she ran off the stage.
"Guards!" People yelled.
I felt my eyes start to burn, and I knew they were turning bright red as I whispered for fire to come to me. The guard trying to catch Ingram were pushed back by the flames that spouted from the Eath beneath them.
I pushed my way back through the crowd again and easily slipped out the town while the villagers panicked.
Maybe now they would have a taste of what real witchcraft was.
..........
I saw her long silver hair glisten n in the moonlight as she walked throught the moonlit field toward me.
The night was warm like her eyes that gazed sadly at me.
I smirked at her and bowed, "Ingram Mere, I am Sabrina, witch of the flames, and by the authority of the magic council; I find you innocent."
"Your body has grown but you are still just a child." The old woman said.
I ran to Ingram and embraced her frail body in my arms.
"Ingram, I was so frightened. "
The old woman slipped out of my arms and began walking away from me. "You still use your magic to wildly." She scolded.
I ran to her, "Ingram what were you thinking? I receved a letter out of nowhere saying you were captured and refused to escape."
She continued to walk and I got in front of her.
"If they would have killed you how do you think I would have felt?"
Ingram pressed her cool hands to my face and I felt the comfort of wind surround me. "I am sorry. I will never do it again."
I wanted to press on the conversation but something told me that was the end.
"Your eyes are red, you've been using flame to much."
I smiled, "My wonderful teacher was the one who said I needed more practice. "
Ingram started walking again, "Oh how foolish I was to take you as a student."
I caught up and walked along side her breathing in the night air. Things were beginning to change and it would not be long before I needed all the power I had to protect Ingram and save myself from destruction.
