No... it wasn't a dream, nor a nightmare. It was reality.
I got barely any sleep that night. My eyes fixed on one thing, to the next. It wasn't very amusing.
After hours of doing so, I finally glanced at a circular shape on the wall. A clock. My eyes finally ajusted to the darkness as I saw the time; it was 6:20 a.m.
With nothing else to do, I got up and turned on a lamp, near the books I saw the other day. I opened my drawers, curious to what was inside...
Why was there a picture in there?
I blinked. Did someone leave it there? A... tribute? An old one, I guess. I picked up the photo. It was a woman. I couldn't quite identify her, because the picture was old... black and white, and a little brown.
Why did she seem so familiar? Maybe it was that girl, from District... 12? It couldn't be her. She wouldn't leave anything like a picture on a train.
I put it back down. I would find out about it later...
~~~
"Hey! Chase!" I heard a voice yell, and realized it was Niel.
I was sitting in the main area on the train, on a couch.
"Yes, Niel?" Chase yelled back.
"Training, starts now!"
Chase bolted out of his room, in some kind of black clothing. The tunic and pants were all black...
"What are you wearing, Chase?" I tried asking, but he was already down the hall.
I sighed, and looked out another window.
Buildings. So many buildings. Where were we going?
"Ohh! I can't wait to go to the Capitol again!"
I whipped my head in the direction of the voice. Two ladies, one with purple hair and the other with blue, giggled silently.
"Umm, hello?" I tried to say. The ladies didn't hear me. Instead, they walked down the hall, like Chase did.
I bit my lip. Who were they, and how did they get onto the bus?
I gasped as I remembered the word 'Capitol'.
We were nearing the Capitol... How were we so close already? Panic and worry washed over me, and I was parilized in fear, unable to get up from the couch. If we are close to the Capitol, that means that the Hunger Games we're comming closer, aswell...
~~~
"Destiny!" a voice broke into my thoughts. "Time for training!"
Already? Niel came down the hall and handed me black clothing, like the ones Chase was wearing before.
"Change into these, and meet me down the hall."
Niel walked off. I ran into my room to change. He seemed very demanding.
I glanced up at my wall. My knives! I was surprised that nobody had noticed them, hung up on the wall and everything. With that in mind, I took my knives.
It looked like the black pants had pockets in them, so I decided to hide it in there.
~~~
"This little room is help to train you for the Training Centre in the Capitol." Niel explained. "It's to prepare you when you meet the other tributes."
"Training Centre?" I asked.
"I explained it to Chase, but for you're sake, I'll explain it again," He began.
"There is a Training Centre in the Capitol. It's a big skyscraper located in the middle. You will live and train there until the Hunger Games. You will get an escort, stylist and prep team... if you impress the audience."
"What audience?"
"You must enter the Training Centre in a Chariot. Your stylist, or stylists, will dress you up for the occasion. Once dressed up, you will get out of your Chariot, in order from District 1 to 12, and smile and wave. The crowd either cheers in awe, or does nothing at all, hating your preformance. If you manage to impress them, you might get a sponsor."
"What's a sponsor?" I was filled with questions, and he didn't seem pleased to answer them.
"Sponser? It's the group I told you of before; escort, stylist, and prep team... and a mentor."
"Aren't you our mentor?"
"Not exactly... not yet..."
"W-What do you mean?"
"You see... a mentor is a living victor from your District. They train you to become as good as them..."
"-And?"
"I'm from... District 4. Your District, District 2, has no victors. You either have none or they are sick, or dead."
"Sick? Dead?" I began getting worried for my mother.
"Yup. I didn't tell Chase that your District had no victors, though. He just, didn't ask so many questions, y'know?"
I shook my head. "Anything else I need to know?"
"Yeah, one more thing. You will get assigned an Avox at the Training Centre, and they will... be a servant to you."
"Wait... an Avox? What's a-"
"You'll find out later." He began walking around the room. "Let's get to training... what weapons are you good with?"
"I-I don't know."
He looked around the room, then looked down at my pants. "What's that in that pocket of yours?"
He must have noticed the knives, peirced through the pocket, creating a hole.
"The pants are leather, aren't they?" I sighed, and he nodded.
I took out my knives, and he studied them. He nodded "It'll do. I've trained with knives too, so you're lucky."
He jogged to a wooden circle in a corner, and when he took it, he went to the back of the room, hanging it upon the wall.
"First, let's try throwing. It's good to... 'take care' of people from a distance."
I blinked. I could see that this training session was going to take a while...
