Jungwoo looked on as you laughed along with Lucas, his anxiety on high.
His mind was overloading with so many thoughts, negative thoughts.
Why were you laughing with Lucas?
Did you like Lucas?
Was Lucas funnier than him?
Did you find Lucas attractive?
He felt his breathing shallow as he began breathing harder and realizing he was about to think himself straight into an anxiety attack, he left the living room.
You however caught him leaving, noticing the worried looked on his face.
You excused yourself from Lucas who simply smiled at you as you went to find Jungwoo.
Pushing yourself through the packed bodies, you made it to the steps of the house and walked up. Once in the hallway, you checked the rooms, first knocking to see if anyone was in and then opening the door.
You were at the 3rd and last room in the hallway when you knocked on the door. Not hearing an answer, you opened it, being met with cool air. You frown slightly as you saw that the balcony door was open and that someone was standing outside, leaning on the railing.
Walking in, you closed the door behind you, the music in the house becoming muffled.
"Jungwoo?" you called out, walking closer to the figure standing on the balcony.
Jungwoo turned around and from the looks of it, it looks as though he may have been crying.
"Jungwoo what's wrong? You just left suddenly." you said as you finally was face to face with him.
"What does Lucas have that I don't?" he bluntly asked which took you aback.
Where did that come from?
"What are you talking about?"
Jungwoo looked to his side, not meeting eye contact with you.
"Every time you're with Lucas, you become flirty. I just want to know what does he has that I don't for you to be in love with him."
"In love?" you titled your head, your face contorted in confusion. "Jungwoo, I don't love him like that. I mean, I'll admit. I do have a little crush on him but that's about it."
Jungwoo still wouldn't make eye contact with you as he said, "You still like him in someway and it's obvious you like him more than me." he said sadly.
"Jungwoo that's not true. You're like a little brother to me I will always choose you before him or anyone else."
He shook his head.
"No no no no no no no no no. I don't want to be seen as a little brother to you." he finally looked at you, his eyes filled with a desperation that you've never seen in him before. "I want to be," he started, walking up to you, grabbing your hands, "your lover. I wanna be your lover, the only one you think about, dream about, come running to." he said. "I don't want to just be a friend anymore..."
You glance down, gulping.
Well, that was a surprise.
You genuinely did not see that coming.
Jungwoo was always rather... cute with everyone. Charming and flirty but another thing about him was that he was pretty good at hiding his feelings. He wouldn't tell a soul about what was bothering him until it all build up inside of him and burst like a volcanic eruption.
"Jungwoo I-" you frowned glancing away once more.
You didn't know what to say.
You didn't want to hurt him since he was a pretty sensitive guy but you didn't want to lead him on.
Shaking your head as you said, "Jungwoo... I don't love you as something more than a friend. I only see you as a friend." your jaw clenched as you saw a heartbroken look grow on Jungwoo's features.
He was devastated to say the least.
"I knew you'd say that..."
"I'm sorry Jungwoo. I love you. I really do. But only as a friend."
Jungwoo nodded, letting go of your hands.
He was silent, his eyes cast down on the floor and with the growing uncomfort, you decided to the leave the room.
Jungwoo just stared at the floor.
His heart genuinely was broken but it wasn't your fault though.
He didn't even make an effort to show you his feelings and would usually swallow his jealously and want of you.
If only he'd actually tried, maybe, just maybe, you would've fallen hard for him as he had for you.
