I held up the flash light as me and Nico walked in the maze. We were following Minos even though I told Nico it wasn't a good idea, when we heard fast clomping noises behind us.
"Run!" Nico yelled.
I did the mistake of looking behind me and saw A girl with flaming hair, fangs, one bronze leg and one donkey leg, and four giants.
We ran into a chamber with no end and I pulled out my sword, Nico doing the same.
"Stay behind me." I yelled as I went to strike the girl, but I saw Nico didn't listen to me as he started to fight the giants. Me and the girl moved fast, often times me swinging at her with my sword and her dodging, while she swiped at me with her talons and I dodge her kicking legs. The fight went on for five minutes before she disarmed me with a kick, making my sword clatter on the ground.
"You fight well but you're no match for me, silly girl!" And she let out a laugh.
I looked back at Nico who was being held by two of the giants and I realized he managed to kill the other two. The girl went on.
"Another child of Poseidon, what is this, perhaps a blessing from Kronos?"
"I'm always a blessing... just not the type of blessing your looking for!"
"Hmm." She smirked and clawed me across the chest just as Minos appeared.
I let out a high pitch scream and dropped to the floor holding my chest, tears appearing on my eyes.
"Stop wasting time and tie them up." Minos said.
I was dragged up, my wrists tied to a chain that was connected to Nico, as Nico trashed around screaming. "Traitor!"
"Now, now," Minos said. "There will be time for that later."
And they dragged us along as blood dripped down my chest.
Not long did we reach two metal doors that had the same symbol I saw on the sewer door, and they pressed on it forcing us inside marching behind us.
We walked in and I saw Annabeth and Percy with a red headed girl and a man I didn't know. They looked at me in terror, as I tried not to collapse to my knees feeling dizzy.
Minos fixed his gaze on Daedalus. "There you are, my old friend."
The mans jaw clenched and he looked at the girl monster and said "What is the meaning of this?"
"Luke sends his compliments," Kelli said. "He thought you might like to see your old employer Minos."
"This was not part of our agreement," He said.
"No indeed," She answered." But we already have what we want from you, and we have other agreements to honor. Minos required something else from us, in order to turn over these fine young demigods."
She ran a finger under Nico's chin. "They'll be quite useful. And all Minos asked in return was your head, old man." And the man paled.
"Treachery."
"Get used to it," Kelli said.
"Are you two all right?" Percy asked.
Nico nodded and I couldn't answer "I—I'm sorry, Percy. Minos told me you were in danger. He convinced us to go back into the maze."
"You were trying to help us?"
"We were tricked," I said.
"He tricked all of us." Percy glared at Kelli.
"That's cute, bet you don't know she's your sister."
"What?" He said.
"She's the daughter of Poseidon."
"We'll find out for ourselves later. Where's Luke? Why isn't he here?" The she-demon smiled at him.
"Luke is...busy. He is preparing for the assault. But don't worry. We have more friends on the way. In the meantime, I think I'll have a wonderful snack!" Her hands changed to claws. Her hair burst into flame and her legs turned back to what I saw before—one donkey leg, one bronze.
Everything broke loose. Annabeth and Percy charged at Kelli. The giants ran to the man, but a huge dog leaping to his defense. Me and Nico got pushed to the ground and struggled with the chains while the spirit of Minos wailed, "Kill the inventor! Kill him!"
The red head grabbed the wings off the wall. Nobody paid her any attention. The girl monster slashed at Annabeth. Percy tried to get to her, but the demon was quick and deadly. She turned over tables, smashed inventions, and wouldn't let anybody get close. The dog chomp its fangs into a giant's arm. Who wailed in pain and flung it around, trying to shake it off. The man grabbed for his sword, but the second giant smashed the workbench with his fist, and the sword went flying. A clay jar broke on the floor and began to burn, green flames spreading quickly.
"To me!" Minos yelled. "Spirits of the dead!" He raised his ghostly hands and the air began to hum.
"No!" Nico cried. He was on his feet without the chains on and I ran to Annabeth bag to look for some nectar or ambrosia and ate some.
"You do not control me, young fool." Minos sneered. "All this time, I have been controlling you! A soul for a soul, yes. But it is not your sister who will return from the dead. It is I, as soon as I slay the inventor!"
Spirits began to appear around Minos shimmering forms that slowly multiplied, solidifying into soldiers.
"I am the son of Hades," Nico insisted. "Be gone!"
Minos laughed. "You have no power over me. I am the lord of spirits! The ghost king!"
"No." Nico drew his sword. "I am."
Nico stabbed his sword into the floor, and it went through like butter.
"Never!" Minos's form rippled. "I will not—"
The ground rumbled. The windows cracked and shattered to pieces, letting in a blast of fresh air. A fissure opened in the stone floor of the workshop, and Minos and all his spirits were sucked into the void with a horrible wail.
My wounds had finally healed and I looked up to see the girl monster pouncing on Percy. I ran as fast as I could grabbing my bracelet and stabbed it in the back.
She gasped "no....school... spirit." And with a awful screech she turned to dust.
I helped Percy up and laughed, which made me looked mental when fighting was still going on with the man, dog and giants. "I killed my first monster!"
Percy smiled at me but I then we heard more shouting in the tunnel, and I was panicking, more monsters were coming and I only had 2 weeks worth of training.
"We have to help Daedalus!" Percy said.
"No time," said the red head. "Too many coming!"
She'd had the gold wings on and was working on putting some on Nico, who looked pale and sweaty from his struggle with Minos. The wings grafted instantly to his back and arms."Now you!" she told Percy.
In seconds, we all had the wings on and I could feel myself being lifted by the wind coming through the window. The green fire was burning the tables and furniture, spreading up the circular stairs.
"Daedalus!" Percy yelled. "Come on!"
The man was cut in a hundred places, but he was bleeding golden oil instead of blood. He'd found a sword and was using part of a smashed table as a shield against the giants. "I won't leave Mrs. O'Leary!" he said. "Go!"
"None of us know how to fly!" I protested.
"Great time to find out," Percy said. And together, the five of us jumped out the window into open sky.
