A few weeks passed with darkened thoughts and anxiety changing the calm atmosphere we once had. Our boss hasn't texted about the meeting. None of us got at least one word from him. It worried us to the point where we're deciding to go to his house and check on him. I haven't heard from Ricky either. I texted him almost everyday asking how his bruises were doing and if he's doing okay, but no reply came at all. The situation was stressing me out. I couldn't eat or sleep, I started to sleep during my school hours and even got warned that if I don't fix myself, I might get suspended or worse, expelled! All of this was happening so suddenly. My life was perfect before all of this even happened. Thanks to all of this, my anxiety grew and even developed post traumatic stress.
A few more weeks passed and still no text nor call from our boss. I'm sitting on a bench in the park, hoping this day would be better than the few weeks I had to endure with anxiety and stress. As the people were passing by while I envy their happy smiles, my phone suddenly rang. I pulled it out right away checking the notification. My heart was beating like an old engine being activated after being inactive for years. To my surprise, our boss finally texted us about when and where we'll be meeting up. "Meeting at 5 pm sharp. My house. Don't be late and be careful. Make sure nobody follows you." The message was loud and clear to us. Finally, a time for us to discuss about what's been going on around and why.
It's 3 pm, 2 hours before the meeting. I get up from my nap since I haven't slept properly in a while, shower, get dressed in my usual hoodie, jeans and rubber shoes. As I was packing my stuff in my small backpack, I looked outside making sure I wasn't being watched as instructed by our boss for safety measures. Luckily nobody was watching me. I closed my windows shutting the curtains when I heard a knock on my door. I grabbed my bag and took a peek through the hole. Sebastian was outside the door holding a box of some sort. I open my door waving him a good afternoon. "Hey Sebastian, What's that?" I asked pointing at the box he was holding "Oh uh...nothing really. I just noticed you weren't really yourself like cheery and quirky. Now you're shutting yourself away. It's not like you. So I decided I gave you this thinking it could cheer you up." he gave the box to me with a sincere smile. My face gave out a big smile which I haven't really had in a while. As I thanked him I opened the box. In the box was an I-pod that I've always wanted to get. This made me happy I even shed a tear. "Thank you so much Sebastian! I don't know what would've made me happy again. Thank you for making my day." I said giving him a hug. He hugged me back and even asked if I needed anything else. I told him about my meeting and he decided he would drive me to the venue. We both went downstairs, out the door and went aboard his car. The car was just a simple Black CUV with brown chairs and a bead cover for the driver's seat. "So, where to?" he asked and told him to where I was going.
It's 3:45 pm, we're on the road to Acewood homes, where my boss lives. It was a nice afternoon ride in the car. Seeing other cars pass by and talking with Sebastian about school and things we were into. It's been a while since he and I talked like this. It felt as if I had a brother I always wanted, someone there to listen to me and care for me in the hardest times. We were growing near the neighbourhood my boss lives in. I checked the rear view mirror checking if anyone was following us. I didn't notice any car following us. We arrived at the entrance and the guard asked us for our ID for identification. We both gave our IDs and the guard let us through and told us to drive carefully. We waved goodbye and went on our way to my boss' house.
As we were driving, we took some time to admire how peaceful and beautiful the neighbourhood was. I wished that I lived there cause I wouldn't have to deal with the situation I'm in right now. I would be free and living a good life on my own, not worrying about anything else but my future. "Beautiful neighbourhood isn't it?" asked Sebastian noticing me spacing out again "Y-Yeah hahaha. I wish we could've lived here. no?" I said giving a faint smile. Sebastian just rubbed my head, messing up my hair like he always does. He giggled at me and kept poking my cheek like I was some kid. I giggled as well and asked him to stop but he didn't. It went on for a minute until he finally stopped. We proceeded down the road parking in front of a small cottage-like house. "You need me to wait for you or...?" asked Sebastian "Oh no no, I'll ask one of my co-workers to drive me home. Thanks though!" I said giving a smile and ensuring him that I'll be fine from here on out. I hopped out the car and waved him goodbye.
