Layla's POV

Bioluminescence: Bioluminescence is the production and emission of light by a living organism. It is a form of chemiluminescence. Bioluminescence occurs widely in marine vertebrates and invertebrates, as well as in some fungi, microorganisms including some bioluminescent bacteria, and terrestrial arthropods such as fireflies.

I wrote the definition down as I read it from
Our text book simultaneously. I had a science class in school that I, no bragging intended, almost always excelled in. Yesterday we started a new unit that included the subject of bioluminescence, which had always fascinated me in the past, and still did now.

Time Skip to the next day as science class began

Layla's POV

Today, we were to be assigned lab partners in science class. One by one, names began to get called out as partners. "Miles and Lauren, Sam and Ally, Dawson and Dinah, Devin and Camila, Jon and Normani," eventually Mr. Briggs got to my name. "Finally, Andrew and Layla." Wait, Andrew?! That guy is one of the jocks and used to be a childhood crush of mine. He wasn't always the nicest guy from what I saw, but who knows.
