IT WAS A casual Saturday in the Outer Banks and for once, the Pogues weren't running around getting shot at or being chased by the police. Their life had been surprisingly calm lately and while Jo always enjoyed the adrenaline of an adventure gone wrong, she appreciated life just the same now that the action was lacking. The Pogues always knew how to have a good time, even when they weren't causing trouble.

The group was gathered on the beach at the Boneyard, circled around a small fire with drinks in their hands. JJ has his legs spread enough for Jo to sit in between them with her back pressed against his chest. Any time he laughed she could feel the vibrations in his stomach and for some reason, it made her happy. Seeing JJ smile and laugh was one of her favorite things ever.

"I don't ever want summer to end," Jo sighed wistfully.

"You know I second that," JJ chorused. He lifted his beer can and raised it in the air. Jo giggled and clinked her can against his before tilting her head back to smile at the blonde boy.

"Ugh, I wish," Kie chuckled. "I hate school."

"Yeah, you would," John B stated. "I'd hate it too if I went to a Kook academy."

"Guys, come on," Pope scolded. "Education is the fundamental principle to success."

"I disagree," JJ said, pointing his can towards Pope. "I would say I'm very successful."

"At what?" Kie scoffed jokingly. "Having a criminal record?"

"What can I say, I live on the edge," JJ hummed.

Jo rolled her eyes and took a long swig of her beer. The blonde instinctively tightened his grip he had around her waist and pulled her closer to him — if that was even possible.

"You're a little too close to the edge for my liking," Jo spoke up. She turned slightly so she could look at him and he just chuckled, letting his eyes dip from hers down to her lips. He was wearing a bandana to keep his unruly hair out of his face — and also because he knew Jo adored the way he looked in them.

"Oh, am I?" JJ whispered seductively. "Guess you'll have to pull me back a few feet."

Jo scoffed and shoved his chest. He whined as she readjusted herself and pressed her back against his stomach. John B watched their exchange with his upper lip curled in disgust.

"Do you guys have to be so sexual?" He complained.

"Yeah, gross," Kie agreed.

Jo opened her mouth in slight offense and gave them a playfully sad look. JJ set his beer down in the sand and wrapped both his arms around her front.
