"Hello?" i answered my phone as it buzzed for the third time on the desk. I was ignoring everyone at this point: my dad, Jeremy, the nanny and most of all, Nickolai. Nothing personal really, just a really shitty day at work.
"Well isn't someone chipper this fine afternoon," a deep and seductive voice spoke into the line.
i frowned. "My 'chipper' is childs play. Now i need a name before i end this call."
"You obviously didn't have any coffee this morning," he chuckled darkly.
i scoffed and pulled the phone away from my ear to check the ID. The number wasn't familiar, nor was it turning up a name to put to the voice. The hot, panty dropping voice.
"Hello?"
i quickly put the phone back to my ear, "yes?"
"You honeslty are thick."
It suddenly connected like a car that just received a life saving shock. "I'd say it was nice to hear from you Nickolai, but it really isn't."
He chuckled again, causing strange butterfly imitations to take over my frozen form. "Took you long enough. I honestly didn't ring just to piss you off - added bonus i guess - I did ring for a reason. Scouts honour."
i rolled my eyes even though he couldn't see it and leaned further onto my desk, shifting my weights off my numb butt cheaks. "You were never a boy scout Nick! That means crap all."
"Okay, fine. How about service men's honour? Now that's gotta be worth something right?" he teased and i could tell he was enjoying this.
"Wait for it......nah still means shit all." i found myself teasing him in return which caused my 'oh shit' meter to rise a few notches.
"Ahhh, so we've gone from crap all, to shit all? Is that an increase on severity? Or are you just putting your extensive vocabulary to the test?" He chuckled and i could hear screeches indicating he was sitting on a wooden chair. Something tapped out a continuous rhythm wherever he was, it sounded like a pen?
"I'm being creative. Speaking of, are you at the parlor?"
The tapping stopped almost instantly. "Yeah, why? Want some ink done?"
It took me all of ten seconds to think it over, "Yes, you interested?"
i heard a sharp intake of breath before the tapping resumed it's irritating beat. "Very. How about today after hours you come to my shop and we can help each other out? Saves you having to make the trip to my place? I wouldn't bring Keenan though, this place is soooo not baby proofed."
i chuckled, thinking over his offer for a few moments. "Yeah sounds good. What time is after hours for you though?"
"Is seven okay? I know it's late to be leaving Keenan at home with a nanny, but i could always ask Jeremy to watch him? Or maybe your dad could?"
i nodded even though he couldn't see me. This man was bipolar i swear. One minute me could hardly get along, the next it was like we had always been friends. "Yeah that sounds fine. My dad has Keenan today anyway so that works in well. I'll just ring him to make sure and then i'll text you?"
"Mmmm, yeah sure sounds great. I'll see you in a few hours then?"
i nodded before quickly shaking my head to rid my mind and focus on verbally answering him for once. "Yeah, soudns good. Are you sure it's not better to come during work hours?"
"I'm sure, gorgeous girl. I will see you then." He hung up before i could say anything else.
I numbly put the phone down, rose from my chair and made my way to me next appointmnet. i fired a text to my dad, making sure he could stay with Keenan until later tonight due to appointments. Of course since he had nothing else to do he said it was fine. I then sent one to Nickolai, making sure it was still alright, my mind whirling after he had callled me gorgeous. He was a smooth liar, that's for sure.
