I'm sitting on the desk of our office, seething. How dare Guy do this without asking me? He knows how much I don't care for One Direction. I don't ever have time to like singers, just random songs that come on the radio. Ayla and Sam are pretty happy, though. They somehow have time to follow these boys faithfully. They're not me.
"Hello, love, I'm Liam," the boy with finely cut brown hair says politely. Wow, he might actually be...okay. I stick out my hand.
"Dylan Walls," I reply. I meet the rest of them: Niall is quite clumsy, yet adorable in a puppy kind of way; Zayn seems quiet (good); Louis looks like trouble just waiting to happen; and Harry...
"Hello, I'm Harry," he says, grinnig at me. "You can call me the guy of your dreams, gorgeous." Guy stifles a laugh; Harry doesn't know what mistake he just made.
"I'm sorry," I smirk, "but I think you've just mistaken me for someone who gives a damn."
"Oooooohhh," everyone choruses. Harry blushes scarlet and walks away quickly as Guy pounds me on the back.
"Meet Dylan: The single toughest girl I have ever met," he chortles. Ayla and Sam give cries of mock hurt, but still giggle along with the others. I smile proudly and look at Harry straight in the eye, daring him to do that again. He rolls his eyes the other way.
"Well, why don't we do something to get to know each other," Ayla suggests. Guy looks at his watch.
"Tell you what, I'll let you have the rest of the afternoon off," he offers graciously, and words of thanks are shouted from all corners of the room. I heave a sigh and slide off the desk. I'd rather be working on that case that playing stupid games. Guy waves a good-bye and walks out the door.
"Let's go to my flat and play some games and order pizza, I guess," I offer nonchalantly. Sam jumps on me excitedly, knocking me down to the floor.
"Ohhhhhh thank you thank you thank you!" she squeals. I'm being squished between her and the floor.
"You're welcome. Now could you get the hell off me?" Sam quickly jumps up and pulls me to the door.
"Just follow us!" Ayla yells to the boys.
~*~
"Niall! Please leave us some pizza!" Ayla shouts to Niall, who was scarfing down every bit of pizza we ordered.
"I'm sorry! It's just so good!" he wails, sitting on his hands. The rest of us help ourselves to the pizza, with Niall subdued for a bit. We all munch on it, chatting. I stay out of it, mostly. After we finish, Sam gets all perky.
"Let's play hide-and-seek!" she giggles. I roll my eyes, but everyone else shouts in agreement. Whatever.
"Okay, who's counting?" Zayn asks. We all look at each other and scream, "NIALL!"
"Aw, why pick on the Irish boy?" he complains, but I turn him around to face the wall.
"Start counting to 60....now!"
We all run around my flat, some of us upstairs and some of us on the main floor. I run upstairs, whip around a corner, and dive into my bedroom and under my bed. Hide-and-seek may be a kid's game, but every time I play, I treat it like fieldwork. It makes it more interesting.
"Oh, shit! Zayn, quit!" I hear Louis whisper-yell. Someone leaps into my room and rolls under my bed. I take a sharp breath in, but whoever it is covers my mouth.
"Shhh!" Liam whispers, his eyes searching my face. I nod, scolding myself. Why did I gasp like that?
"OKAY, I'M DONE!" Niall yells. Liam and I take soft breaths as we listen to the action happening around the house. It's actually quite hilarious.
"Haha! Gotcha, Zayn!" Niall screams. "Wait, no, no---OW!" His voice goes up three octaves.
"I think Zayn just kicked him in the balls," Liam quietly laughs. I slap my hand over my mouth to stifle a giggle.
"You'll never catch me!" Louis screeches. "Where's Narnia when you need it?!"
"Niall! Niall! Niall! Oh, shit!' Harry's down.
"Ayla! Stop the Gangnam Style, I can still still see you!" Niall cracks up.
"Sam! Samantha! Samarooo!! HA! There you are!"
"You people are complete idiots," I whisper to Liam. Liam looks at me and gives me a cheeky grin. "No, Liam! Don't you dare!"
"Tonight we are young! So let's set the world on fi--" Liam belts out before I slap my hand on his mouth.
"They're setting the world on fire, you guys!" Louis yells, and I groan. Someone throws up the comforter, exposing our hiding spot.
"Really? Under the bed is the oldest place in the book," Zayn says, shaking his head in mock disapointment. I roll my eyes and clamber out from under the bed and straighten up.
"I guess it's safe to say Liam and I won?" I ask.
"Yeah, you won," Niall admits grudgingly.
