kennedy pov

sophia thank you i said as i got out the car i entered my apartment and went to take a shower i tried to not cry but i did while in the club i got a text from my grandma that my mom's were in the hospital because emily which is one of my mom's got diabetes and is now in a coma but i didn't want to ruin the mood so i didnt go home i wanted to talk to maeve about it but i don't think she wanted to talk to me so i just cried myself to sleep at about 3 am because i was crying so much when i woke up i looked at the time it was 8:30 i was late for work but i didn't rush i took my time to get ready my eyes were bloodshot and puffy when i entered the building everyone was asking why i was late and if i was okay i just walked past them and went to my office i laid my head down on my desk so i could prepare for this day mentally i took a deep breath and walked out and said we have a case and walked to the conference room when everyone walked in nobody said anything i started with okay everybody we have a case with little girls going missing then being held for a week before they show up dead a new body was found this morning in an alley in eugene,oregon beth spoke up and said um they are between the ages of 8-10 maeve said oregon has the most pedophiles we'll discuss the rest on the plane wheels up in thirty i said then walked out to my office to call my mom jen when she picked up i could tell she was crying hey mom i said she said hey how are you i said im about to work a case just wanted to at least call you to hear your voice and tell you that i love you she said i love you to so i asked how was mom doing she said the doctor said that if she doesn't show signs of waking up she has a possibility of never waking up i didn't want to cry on the phone with her so i then asked how henry was doing she said he was okay i said okay mom i have to got see you later i'll come visit after this case okay she said okay bye honey and hung up i sat there and started to cry when a knock came at my office door i wiped my eyes and said come in it was maeve she said that they were starting to leave i said okay and got up

james pov

something felt off today and it had to do with kennedy because when we was on the jet she sat next to me when she never did and laid her head on my shoulder so i whispered and asked her if she was okay she just nodded i knew something wasn't okay but she would tell me when she decided to so the jet was quiet until kennedy spoke up and said i'll set up a the police station and beth please leave me your hoodie i forgot mine police stations are cold beth said sure babe beth you and hank can go to the morgue james and um maeve can go to the crime scene everyone agreed and nobody said anything until kennedy went to sleep hank said i wonder what's wrong with her beth said i don't know but it's really fucking with her just watching maeve and how she had this guilty look on her face i just observed everyone when the jet landed i shook kennedy to wake her up she said let me sleep but i said we landed and she got up even with nobody said anything.

maeve pov

i felt so guilty because usually kennedy is hyper and laughing but today she was deadlike and it was my fault if i didn't do what i did last night she wouldn't be this way i just didn't know she cared so much so i planned on apologizing to her when i got back to the station but right now i needed to focus on the little girl who's name was marcy jones she was 9 years old she was chocked to death with a rope she also had rope marks on her wrist and ankles james spoke up and said so we have a unsub who takes little girls and ties them up but we don't know why he takes them once we figure that out we would understand a little more about this case so we headed to the police station

when kennedy entered the station she had to put on a happy face because they were still on a case the chief of police asked if she was the only one she chuckled and said no the rest of my team is out they will be here soon is there a place i can set up she asked oh he said and he walked her to a small room in the back of the station kennedy set up and sat there looking at evidence
