“Mom! Dad! I got the job!” While practically shouting, I ran upstairs with a huge smile on my face. I entered the hallway and ran to my parent’s door. It was closed. That’s weird it’s normally open. I swung the door open and quickly slammed it back closed. “EW! Could you please do that when I’m not home!”
“If the door is closed, don’t come in!” I could barely make out which of my parent yelled that over all the giggles. Talk about major ew. Well I guess they won’t be hearing about the thing they have wanted me to get ever since I was 10, which was 6 years ago. So they should be a bit more excitable about my new job, not about their sex lives.
I entered the familiar green bedroom in which I like to call “The Zone” since it’s the only place I can loudly play my music and act a fool without anyone judging me. Luckily my house is huge and The Zone is on the other side of the house so there will be no sounds of my parent’s inexcusable behavior. I don’t really know why my house is so huge. There are about 7 different rooms, not including the kitchen or bathrooms, and only me and my parents live here. But it’s not like I’m complaining.
“So Rhiley if I heard correctly, you got the job!” Opening my door, my mom said. I could get angry at here for coming into The Zone without knocking but I was too excited about telling her about my new job.
“Yes! I did!” I said a little too loudly. While trying to use my inside voice, I continued, “I’m working at The Wave, the teen club that’s by my high school.” I could tell she wanted to know what my time to go in was. “Work starts tomorrow from 5 to 9 and I have to go in on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.”
Her face brighten up, when I told her when I would be out of the house. “Have you met the owners?”
“Not yet. I planned on meeting them when I went in tomorrow.” I could tell that was the wrong thing to say. She looked as if she was about to have a fit. Yes, she really does get mad at little things like that. Not being one to like getting into arguments with her mom, I decided I would go meet them early. “What I meant to say is that I was going to go meet them after I told you or dad about my new job.”
Well she looked satisfied with my lame excuse, since she was smiling again. “Then what are you waiting for go meet them!” She practically pushed me out of my room and dragged me down the stairs and outside. She watched me the whole time I got into my black jeep commander and while I drove away.
It did not take long for me to reach The Wave. My school, Bridgeport High School, was only about 15 minutes from my house and The Wave was down the street from the school. While pulling into the parking lot, I debated if I should park in an employee spot or a customer spot. This debate went on for about 10 seconds in my head until I was like whatever and pulled into one of the few employee spots remaining.
I hoped out of my Commander and came face to face with The Wave. It is such an attractive building with its blue walls with black paint splattered on it with neon lights everywhere. The outside looked amazing but it was nothing compared to the gorgeous lime green walls, black carpet, soda bar, dJ table, multi light dance floor that laid within the inside.
I walked inside taking in the wonderful view of people dancing and swaying to the music. It made me wish I came here as a customer instead of an employee coming to meet her bosses. I had been in one to many times to know where the bosses’ office was. I knocked on the door, until someone said, “Come in.”
The inside of the office was a nice cream color that made you question if you were actually in a teen club office or a business office. There were two desks that housed a man and a woman, who I assumed were my bosses. The man was a blonde who looked as if he were in his late 30’s. The women had long red hair that was pinned up and she also looked as if she were also in her late 30’s. The name tags on their desks let me know they’re names were Mr. and Mrs. Verna. Their last names sound strangely familiar. They both looked up and smiled when they saw me.
