That was it.

That was just what set her off.

Something struck her brain. It sparked, like a match ready to ignite. Her entire body stopped dead. All the fury and anger and sorrows piled up on her and being dragged and towed were ready to be launched.

A beam of light flashed at him, blinding Phoenix as he stumbled back with his hands on his eyes. Valor's large wings emerged from her once again and snapped through the air. She steadily got on one knee and used her right arm to push herself off from the ground. Her hazel pupils turned into a fiery amber as she stood up boiling with anger. A scepter formed into her hand and a scythe in another, it's sharp, rigid edge curved perfectly. A ball of an unusual red and bright orange substance was entangled above her scepter, creating a deformed ball.

"My mother..." she murmured carefully. "Is not... weak!" She yelled the last couple words with a growl and fired the ball at him. Phoenix jumped to the side, however as the ball hit the ground, it blew up right next to him sending a piece of energy covered shrapnel into his leg. Trying not to grimace, he pulled out the shrapnel and tossed it away. "DON'T TELL ME THAT MY KINDNESS IS MY WEAKNESS! THIS BEAST INSIDE OF ME ISN'T DEAD!" She thumped her chest with her fist. "YOU KEEP UNDERESTIMATING ME!"

"Alright then," Phoenix whispered. "I guess we're doing this now." He shut his eyes gently and took a deep breath. Tobi, Artemis, Jered and Vale all watched from a distance, spellbound and anxious for what would happen next. Black, shiny polished wings, about the size of Valor's, came out from his back and widened. His pupils turned into a bright red and a dark maroon crystal weapon was placed in his hand, with a swirling object inside. Suddenly, his wings blinked into flames. The brilliant fire adorned his feathers and lapped up the sides of his back. The dark sky was now lit up solely by his wings and everyone lost their breath.

Valor had never seen him like this before and neither had the others. She stopped instantly and gasped a little, her eyes wide and face paler than before. Her heart dropped into a deep pit and she turned stone cold. The powerful wind blasting in the air made him look striking, yet petrifying. His clothes turned into a blood red and black suit with white gloves on his hands as smooth as silk.

Phoenix gently raised his hands in the air and twirled them around. Trails of black chakra swarmed around him and created a protective bubble around his body. It was a thick, glowing shield and covered completely around him. Valor started to panic at his new form of defense. She carefully scanned his shield and paused when she acknowledged the bottom of his feet.

His chakra levels weren't as strong as everywhere else. It was more like a power gap, really. Valor lowered her head the slightest bit and shot blinding heat rays out of her eyes, aiming for his foot and trying to drill in. It bounced off easily which made her frown, grit her teeth, then try again.

It didn't work.

"Do you think Phoenix has the same powers as Valor?" Vale asked Jered, his voice shaking like fragile glass as they watched the two of them fight from afar. With each power blast the tall, blackened and burnt trees whipped back and wind roared like wild lions. The sky turned into a dark, hazy grey and smoke rose wafting around in the air.
