Even Blossoms Fall

Just a kiss

Kai smiles. The park is large. He looks around smelling the fresh air. The smell of freshly cut grass, yet nobody really cuts the grass in this park. He lays down on the hill with his group. He stands up seeing April show up. She walks and greets Tara and Jason. They all hug and then all lay on the large blanket. April looks at Kai and smiles hesitantly. He looks at the bridge and sees a couple walking by holding hands. The two share a kiss, the sight brings a tight feeling to Kai's chest. He gets up and faces everyone.
"I'm gonna go for a walk I'll be back."
Kai walks off passing by more couples. He almost covers his eyes from seeing.
In his head he screams, 'why the hell is there so many couples out today!'

April looks at the two.
"You should go after him. If you don't you might loose him forever, I don't think you'd want that April."
"Thanks Tera."
April gets up and runs after him.

Kai sits on the cobblestone. The small walls suited for sitting. He sits there with tears in his eyes. He gets up and paces back and forth. He begins pounding his fist against the rock.
"Why is everything reminding me of what I can't have! It's like it's playing on loop! Why can't I just move on!"
Kai turns around seeing April with tears in her eyes. She runs up hugging him tightly. They separate a bit and stand face to face while she still has her arms wrapped around him. Kai smiles with tears in his eyes.
'Could this be it? Finally?'
He leans in then sees her face, she hesitates removing her arms and backs away. Kai stands there disappointed.
"I give up April. I'm done."
He beings walking away. April stares suddenly receiving flashbacks.

Kai grips his bike handles. He looks at April, both awaiting to cross the street.
"Hey April."
"Yeah?"
"Can I get a kiss?"
She shakes her head nervously backing up.
Kai looks down then stands straight again forcing himself to smile.
"Alright that's fine."

"Boom I got you!"
"You beat me Kai."
Kai stares at the air hockey table. He stares at her smiling. All noise silencing, just the sound of her laugh. He gets closer and leans in but she backs up walking towards the game again.
"Let's have a rematch."
Kai forces a smile and nods. The sound of every other game in the arcade flooding in all at once.

April looks at Kai as he walks away.
She remembers what he's said over the phone.
'I've tried so many times. I don't know what I did wrong to deserve this.'
She begins to tear up. She turns her head seeing the lake. In the middle seeing a large pink blossom tree.
"A blossom tree?"
She looks around seeing time had stopped, frozen completely. She stares at the tree. The water turning pink and rippling. She turns seeing Kai, she runs after him, time resuming. The sound of the birds splashing in the lake below, the pink aura gone. The tree completely vanished, April grabs his shoulder spinning him around and pulls his shirt, pulls him in and kisses him. He tears up slowly closing his eyes feeling the sensation of her lips.
'After so long.... thank you. I missed this, I don't know why but I do.'
They separate but Kai holds her again hugging her tightly. He stares at the lake in the distance seeing spots of pink. He rubs his eyes seeing a pink tree, he rubs his eyes again seeing a plain old lake. He smiles and focuses on hugging her. He brushes her hair gently with his hand.
"I love you Kai."
He freezes. 'She said she loves me. That's the first time she's said that. I- I can't believe it.'
"I love you too April."
