Chapter 2: How It All Started

Angeline's P.O.V

One day, I was a normal 18 year old graduate and the next I was going to travel all around the world. Meeting and knowing amazing people...

I am going to be a pop star, or am I already one?

It is a really sudden thing.

My mom is a Malaysian but my dad is an American. I was born in this beautiful country, Malaysia. That is why my accent is a mixture of Malaysian and American. I got the American accent from my dad. :)

It was about a month ago when I was performing in Twin Towers. Twin Towers is the tallest building in Malaysia as well as one of the best tourist attractions here. A great place to shop and a fantastic place for a job. The manager of Twin Towers, Mr. Ravens was the one who asked me to hold a performance there as they were going to celebrate Twin Towers 10th anniversary. Of course, I was extremely surprise that he would give me this honor. Mr.Ravens is my mother's close friend. He has seen me sing before in numerous events and he was wonder-struck when he heard my voice. It was a terrific experience so I eccepted his offer.

The day came and I still remember every tiny little bits that has happened. It was one of the best time I have ever had.

~Back On that Day~

The stage was huge. Extremely huge. I have never sing on a stage this big before... And the crowd...

"Ah, Miss Campbell," I was exploring the place when someone snapped me out of my thoughts. I turned around and found Mr. Ravens standing behind me.

"It is a great honor to finally meet you. You look beautiful," Mr. Ravens greeted me with his deep American accent. We were at the backstage. I was all dressed up and is ready to hit the spotlights. And yes, I was wearing my favorite purple cocktail dress. My mom picked that out for me.

"Mr Ravens, thank you so much! It is a great pleasure meeting you too. And please just call me Angeline," I said politely as I shook his hand.

"I see you have full of confidence. You must be ready to show yourself tonight," He said as he flashes a big grin on his face.

"Honestly, I am a little nervous about this. Look at the crowd out there," I answered him. My voice was a little shaky. I look at the big wave of crowd just outside the curtains. They were all waiting to see the performance. Even from here, I can see tourists from all around the world and people from my country.

"Angeline, you will do great. Trust me on that. Just sing on stage like you are having the time of your life," Mr.Raven said in a comforting tone.

"Thank you," I said with a smile on my face. Mr.Ravens is such a wise man.

"You are most welcome. Now get ready, you are going to win the hearts of the people out there in 5 minutes, my dear," He said. Then he left to do his last arrangements.

"Alright. I can do this. Just have fun out there. I can do this. Everything will go fine. I can do this," I whispered to myself. It is how I calm myself down.

"I can do this. Just breath in and out," I inhaled and exhaled. Now, this makes me feel better.

Then, I heard the crowd cheer and applause.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! I am your master of ceremony tonight. Welcome to Twin Tower's 10th Anniversary. It is marvelous indeed to have you all here. Today, we have a very special guest. This young lady here is going to sing us a song. Now, this is her very first time singing in front of thousands of people. Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together and welcome our very first performer, Angeline Campbell!" I was sweating when it was my turn to take the stage.

"Angeline Autumn Campbell, you can do this!" I said to myself one last time.

I took in a deep breath and stepped out. The spotlight shone on me. The crowd was so alive. They were cheering so loud that I may almost turn deaf. My breathing was slower as I tried to absorb whatever I was seeing. Walking seems almost impossible. I felt so overwhelmed just by seeing such a large crowd cheering.

Then the master of ceremony walk towards me.

"Angeline, you are our guest performer and also a very special one. Since that is what Mr. Ravens told us. Mind telling us a little about yourself?" He said through his microphone and look at me.

I can hardly speak as I was so surprise but I manage to start of with some words that I always say when I am in front of a large crowd.

"Hello everybody!" I tried to sound as cheerful as I can.

The wave of crowd cheered even louder and some even said hello back to me. I saw my mom, dad and a few of my friends in the crowd. My mom mouthed that I will be great. It make me feel so much more comfortable on stage. They give me that never ending support. I started saying whatever run through my mind.

"First of, I would like to say a big thank you to Mr. Ravens for giving me this fantastic opportunity to stand on this stage..."

I continued speaking then sang in front of everybody. I felt like I was in cloud 9 when they all shouted and cheered for me when I finished performing.

Just imagine, thousands and thousands of people shouting for you!

I stayed until the event ended. It was truly a night!

It was already 11.00 p.m when I was ready to go back home. Mr. Ravens, the other performers, the producers...all bead me farewell and praised me one last time.

My mom and I was leaving when someone stop us.

"Excuse me! Excuse me!"

We turned around and found a man in his mid-30s running towards us.

"Excuse me, Miss. My name is Henry John Wright. I am trying to find someone to be a singer...well, a pop star, actually. If I am not mistaken, your name must be Angeline and this must be your mom," He spoked so quickly that I can hardy catch up.

"Yes." I nodded.

"Angeline, would you love to be one?" He asked.

"What? B...b...bu...but..." I hesitated as I tried to find my words.

Henry told me to decide. He said he knows that I will make an incredible job being a...a...pop star. It is even hard to call myself a pop star. If I am to agree. That means I will have to leave everything and everybody behind. It is the hardest decision that I have ever made in my life but my family and friends wouldn't stop convincing me to go for it.

So here I am.

I am going to New York to start my very first step.
