The top of his body was supported by me as I pressed down the cloth which was now totally soaked in his blood. I prayed silently as I contemplated whether to wait for Khalil or not."Deenah.." He breathed
"I've told you not to talk. I swear I'll kill you if you die." I chuckled and he gave a crooked smile
"You know, I just wanna make you mine before I finally breathe my last." He said with great difficulty
"Hey shh. We're surely gonna hook and belong to each other. Just make sure you don't cower." I joked and he smiled
A text came in and I read it
Don't allow him to lose much blood. And I'm tracking you guys' location so keep the phone active.
What do I do, there isn't any ice packs or more cloth here.
I noticed that I had a bra on, probably since the day I left home. I asked Salim to close his eyes and he obeyed, then I removed it and placed it over the damp cloth.
"You can open them. I hope you didn't steal a glance." I eyed him jokingly
"No! I promise." He said with his ever beautiful smile
We had been there for about one hour and Khalil hadn't shown up yet. Salim began to struggle with his breaths and that made my heart pound in thousands.
"I don't think I can survive this. Please ..." He began to whimper
"No Saal. Just stop talking already, please." I fought the tears back
"Listen, everyone has their time and maybe now's mine. Please take care of yourself." He sighed heavily
"Salim please.." I began to cry, I couldn't hold it anymore
"Look, you're already going against my wish. Don't cry and get over me soon." He tried to wink but his eyes began to blink and he went quiet for a while
"Please Salim, don't give up. I swear I love you. I swear I wanna spend the rest of my life with you. Salim talk to me." I shook him but not a word came out. Seconds later, his lips began to move and when I drew closer, I heard him repeat the kalimah more than five times before he went mute, FOREVER
From God we come and to Him shall we return
From God we come and to Him shall we return
No, Deena..just check his pulse or something
His body may have gone cold but he might still be breathing, just checkI did.. I did check his pulse a million and one times. I took my fingers close to his nostrils too, but nothing changed. Nothing at all
Salim's body was cold and a bit stiff and he couldn't move, or breath, or wink, or smile, or talk or flatter me like he'd always done. Salim was GONE
