"Johnny." Gyro's resonant voice cut through the platinum blonde's dreams. "Wakey-wakey." He was a bit of a light sleeper so it was typically easy for Gyro to wake him up. Although taking a nap on the ground in the afternoon wasn't the nicest, sure he couldn't feel nothin' from the waist down but he could still feel the rocks jabbing his back through the burgundy blanket and his light blue shirt. The days had been pretty high in temperature lately which made both of them more exhausted each day. Hell, the whole race was exhausting but hopefully they would both reach their goals. Johnny had a book over his face, partly because he knew he was probably not very nice looking when he slept but who cared at that point, and also because he'd been pretty bored and fallen asleep while reading. He lifted his arms over his book-covered face, adjusting his star designed cuffs. He could feel Gyro poking him with that pink teddy bear he carried around to get him up.

"I'm awake, you can stop." The blue-eyed one said as he smacked the teddy bear away lightly but couldn't help but let out a tiny laugh at Gyro's ways of being a jokester. Whether he wanted to admit it or not, Gyro was definitely one of the funnier people Johnny had met in his lifetime, always cracking good jokes even if they were absolutely stupid and sometimes at the wrong time. And yeah, sometimes Johnny was a bit sarcastic and cynical but he still had a sense of humor of course.

"We should get moving, Diego might beat us if you keep napping." Gyro joked, exposing his golden teeth with a grin. "Plus, we have to set up camp somewhere more secluded than this if we don't want to get attacked or stolen from." Johnny nodded his head in response before removing the book over his face and pushing himself to sit up with his arms. He adjusted his star-spangled hat, staring across the nothingness that the desert and forest of America was.

"Let's get going then, Gyro." His azure lips curled up into a smile, glancing one last time at the exposed but beautiful area of the country they were in. The blazing orange sun gave everything a red hue, but it wouldn't be that way for long since the sun would probably go down sometime soon. It only took a few moments for Gyro to get Slow Dancer and Valkyrie ready for travel. They wouldn't be going too far though, just somewhere more secluded to camp out for the night in case they get attacked somehow.

It was only a matter of time before they were both on their horses, trotting against the dirt and sand lit with the red hot sun of the evening. It was silent for a while, occasionally stopping to stay hydrated. They'd been running a bit low on food so they might have to catch something, which Johnny never enjoyed of course. But neither did Gyro, neither of them were hunters really but they did what they had to do in order to get through this whole race alive. And the silence wasn't awkward, it was comfortable. The sun was setting further down minute by minute and the lit sky grew darker and freckled with bright stars. It felt like forever before they found somewhere good enough to camp.

"How about this spot here, Johnny?" Gyro spoke aloud, turning his body to face Johnny and Slow Dancer as he pointed his finger towards a spot in the middle of the woods. It wasn't too far from their path which was pretty nice. Johnny was definitely thankful for that aspect. The Joestar nodded in approval, stopped Slow Dancer in a good spot before untying his legs from the saddle. He always tied them there since he had no control of them and it'd be pretty annoying to have them just flopping the hell around when racing on his horse. It was always difficult to get on and off his horse though, especially since he was still learning about the spin techniques from the other cowboy. Gyro had to often help him on and off, which was sort of embarrassing in a sense but there was no time for embarrassment on a trip such as this one. Slow Dancer helped him too though once it warmed up to him, a good ol' horse that assisted Johnny. It was up to Gyro to retrieve wood for the campfire, so the blue-eyed one was currently left alone at the camp. He leaned up against a tree, holding onto the lantern him and Gyro shared for a source of light. Averting his gaze towards the horses to check on them, both of them had been pretty exhausted recently so it was good they were finally getting a bit of rest. Both Slow Dancer and Valkyrie were laying down beside each other, soundly sleeping as they should.
