heather
└─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───┘IT WAS hard being Nick Austin's best friend— hell it was even harder when you've been in love with the kid for what's felt like forever and ever. There was just so much about him that you loved, stuff that made y oh wonder why you ever dated all of those assholes in high school.
I still remember, third of December
Me in your sweater, you said it looked better
On me, than it did you, only if you knew
How much I liked you, but I watch your eyes, as she
Walks by"Nick stop it" You giggled as he poked your sides. The two of you were currently on your weekly picnic, where the two of you go to the local park and spend time together without the rest of our friend bugging you. It was nice— just the two of you.
Well, it as nice until the day she walked by. She was beautiful, and as a girl you could most definitely admit that. She had a perfect face, perfect body, perfect everything, and she sure did catch Nick's eye because he wouldn't stop talking about her for the rest of the day. You remember watching him as she walked past you guys, watching her every move as your heart slowly sunk to the bottom of you, knowing damn well that you could never look as good as her.
What a sight for, sore eyes
Brighter than a, blue sky
She's got you mesmerised
While I die"I got her number! God she was so pretty" Nick gushed as you sat at his desk staring off into the distance. Charli was sitting in the corner of the room, and as you turned around the two of you made direct eye contact. You could see the sad smile on her face— she knew that you were in pain, she knew about the fact that in less than a week you wanted to confess your very feelings for him, but now you decided to hold everything back just to keep him happy.
Why would you ever kiss me?
I'm not even half, as prettyYou sighed and threw back your head in utter heartbreak, when just across the room Nick was making out with his new girlfriend. girls/n was her name, and she was beyond pretty. She could sing, she could paint hell she could probably even recite the entire notebook movie that's how talented she is. How could you ever compete with her?
"Hey, you okay love?" The familiar voice of Charli said from behind you as you swirled your coke around before softly smiling in her direction.
"I'll be okay— eventually" I said as she glanced in the direction of Nick and girls/n, sighing.
"Are you sure y/n?" She asked again.
"Yeah, I mean I have to be right? There's nothing more I can do, I lost not only my best friend but the love of my life" You said as she paced a hand on your shoulder and pulled you into a hug.
However, over your shoulder you failed to notice a confused Nick staring at the two of you hugging.
You gave her your sweater
It's just polyester, but you like her better
Wish I were Heather"Look at them" You said to Dixie as the two of you watched Nick give her his jumper as the two of them at outside the hype house, making you sigh. It hurt more than anything to see the boy you loved being in love with another girl
"I wish I was her" You said softly, playing with your fingers and the rings on them.
"You're perfect the way you are y/n, don't ever think that you're not" she said as you glanced out the window at the two of them again.
After that moment at the hype house, it had officially been three months since you and Nick had spoken. Every time you tried to, his girlfriend would show up out of nowhere and they'd go off together. He'd cancelled plans to hang with her, the two of you even stopped doing your picnics— which you soon realised were over when you showed up to it and he didn't.
However today was different, Nick and his girlfriend weren't joined at the hip like they usually were in the house, not to mention the fact you saw them both having a heated conversation the night before.
You sat on the dining table with your legs hanging off of the edge of it as you ate your cereal, humming the tune of some song that had been playing through Dixie's phone earlier. Suddenly, a loud bang came from beside you making you jolt up with the spoon in your hand.
"Guess what y/n" Dixie said loudly as you held your heart, trying to comprehend what just happened.
"Jesus you scared the absolute—" however you were cut off as she shushed you making you laugh lightly.
"Nick and girls/n broke up" she said making you look up at her, however for some reason you didn't express any emotions whatsoever, making Dixie give you a confused look as you continued to eat your food.
"Do you, like have anything to say?" She said as you smiled and shrugged, making her throw her head back and groan before running off to find the other girls most likely. Once you had finished, you leaned you dish and turned around only to come face to face with a hard chest.
"Oh shit" you cussed as the person stepped back, only for it to be Nick making you widen your eyes slightly.
"Oh—uh–hi" You stumbled out as youtook another step back, stiffening up a little bit and running your sweaty hands over your hoodie.
"So I'm assuming you heard the news" he said as you shifted feet, nodding your head as you looked down at the ground.
"Yeah—I'm sorry, you don't deserve that at all, I really hope that you're okay Nick" You said as he looked you in the eyes directly.
"Wait what— you mean you're not mad?" He said as you furrowed your eyebrows.
"Mad about what?" I mumbled out as I moved to the fridge and got out a juice box, staring back where Nick was.
"I just— y/n I haven't spoken to you in what? Three months? Aren't you mad or something" he said as you sat back up on the counter, staring at him. Yes you were mad, what kind of question is that.
"I mean Nick, when you're best friend bails on your every time you make plans to hang out with his girlfriend and then forgets you even exist, you tend to not worry anymore" you blurted our before running a hand roughly through your hair.
"Why didn't you tell me you felt that way?" He said as you shrugged your shoulders.
"It's hard to tell you when she becomes your heather" you said before hopping off of the counter and leaving the room, not being able to cope with the situation any more than you already had.
And it hurt like a bitch.
