Another one of her screams pierced the eerie silence of the night. Josh, who was just outside that room was beside himself with grief and worry. His eyes were swollen and puffy from crying. It was because of him that they were in this situation. He cursed the very day he met her. He wondered why this was happening to him. Out of all the girls he had been with, why her? Another howl resonated from the room, a howl that shook Josh to his very core. His feet gave out from beneath him as he slid to the floor, memories from the last few months crashing into his mind. Josh’s father, Mark, was a very successful businessman. The nature of his job meant that he was constantly moving and since Josh was the only family he had, his wife having passed away when Josh was only a toddler, meant that Josh went wherever his father’s business took them. It was when Josh and his father moved to Kingstown that Josh met Lucy. Lucy was indeed a beauty to behold; she was pretty, had an amazing body and a personality that made Josh fall for her the moment he saw her. Friendship sparked of between them the moment they met. And as time flew by, their friendship evolved into something more intimate. They fell head over heels for each other and not a single day would pass by without them seeing each other. It was on that fateful Saturday that will forever be etched into Josh’s memory that they took their intimacy to the next Level despite Lucy’s reservations. Josh and Lucy had gone out on to the movies, and since Lucy’s parents had been accustomed to Josh, they had given their daughter permission to spend the night at Josh’s place believing that Mark was home and would watch over them. When Lucy and Josh returned to Josh’s home from their date, they found a note from Mark telling them that he had been called to an important meeting and that he would not be back home until later the next day. It was later that night that things got heated between Lucy and Josh, but since Lucy came from a staunch Christian family and was deep-rooted in her believes, she had reservations on how far she wanted to take things with Josh, that plus the fact that they did not have any form of protection. But on the other hand, Josh was pressuring her to make Love. She tried to plead her case but it all fell on deaf ears. At that moment, Josh was being driven purely by lust and he was determined to get what he wanted. Blinded by her feelings for him, Lucy gave in to Josh’s desires. Six weeks down the line, Josh received a call that turned his world upside down. It was Lucy who informed him that their little escapade earlier had resulted in her being pregnant. What scared Josh was the fact that Lucy’s parents would not hesitate to sue him, and since Lucy was still a minor, that meant a world of trouble for Josh. Josh was determined not to see the inside of a prison. He convinced Lucy to perform an abortion and since his father was rich, he could easily cover the cost. Josh planned everything and despite Lucy’s reservations, the following week saw them at a shabby looking clinic. A pain stricken shriek jolted Josh back into the present. Silence filled the air making Josh to start worrying. The door to the room that Lucy was in slowly opened and a woman dressed in a nurse’s gown stepped out with a solemn look on her face. Josh did not wait to be spoken to as he barged into the room. What he saw would haunt him even in the afterlife. It was a like a scene off a horror movies, with blood on the floor, bloody bandages scattered about and in the middle of it all the body of a girl, skin pale as death, eyes wide open in agony and mouth ajar as if telling him, ”this is all your fault!”
