Sleeping Beauty

Chapter 1

Rain is pouring hard and it was getting dark, the victim, almost barefooted of running never cared as long as she could get out of the woods. Not long ago, she was still eating with her friends at a Wendy's fast food chain near her working area, a three-storey building painted with pastel colors,  one of the well-known printing press, the Aardvark Letterpress in Los Angeles, California. Out of breath, she looked around and decided to take an ample rest. She then sat down and leaned on a tree nearest her sobbing and trembling out of fear. She could still vividly remember their little talk earlier while on break.

"You know psychopaths are really hard to understand", said one of her colleagues while chewing a mouthful of a Dave's Hot 'N Juicy 1/4 pound single burger.

She didn't exactly know why her friend came up with such statement.

"Yeah, right", she blurted out rolling her eyes back to her newly bought Cosmopolitan fashion magazine.

"But it's true, I actually heard it from my famous cousin when she was talking with her fellow officers".

"Oh, who was that again? Was it Agent Rollings?", whispered by their pretty brunette friend still busy with her makeup.

"Yeah, so you better be careful, there are plenty of them nowadays".

Her thoughts then were disturbed upon hearing nearby footsteps. She could hear branches breaking and leaves rustling. It's getting closer and closer. She could hear the thumping of her heart slower..slow..fast..faster and faster and faster, sweat trickling down her damped hair and she felt like throwing up. She could taste the sour thing in her mouth already but still holding it back. It's raining harder now. The skies were even darker than before. A lightning strike faster than a blink of an eye followed by the loudest cry of thunder she had ever heard.

"I should not make any noise", she whispered almost to herself, closing her eyes shut, feeling her own breath. It was so cold, she's soaking wet.

She made a mistake, instead of staying there waiting for the Stranger to disappear, she should have gone running out of the woods until she reached the other side of town. Feeling like she'd been watched, she slowly turned her head from side to side and when she looked up, she saw the hideous predator showing her his sinister smile.

"Boo!", the Stranger shouted. He found his very next victim that looked like his first for his satisfaction. He saw her fear and it felt so right, he was elated of what to do to his captured princess.
