It started with a family of middle-class plantation workers in the city-state of Haven City, being ruled over by the mighty Damas. The family consisted of a mother, a father, a son at the age of seventeen, and an unborn child. The mother was currently undergoing labor. The father, named Remardis Hagai, had called in a doctor to help his wife though the process. Soon the wife, named Arises, began to scream in pain, and the doctor ushered the father out of the room.

A few hours later, the doctor came out. The doctor congratulated Remardis, telling him that his wife had beared a boy. The father came in, and his wife had a warm smile across her face. The baby was swaddled in a blanket, and it stared at Arises and Remardis with bright blue-green eyes.

Now the eldest son, whose name was Samos, had been sent to a friend's home while the child-birth had happened. Samos was the oddity in the family. His skin was a sage-green, and his brown hair fell around his head like the branches of a willow. He also had a peculiar connection with plants. They seemed to understand his voice and do as he asked.

The eldest came back to find the child. Samos blinked, and a realization flooded his mind. He was at first shocked, then poignant. He was then quite overjoyed in being an older brother. He picked up the child from the baby basket, and held him close. The baby's elongated ears twitched to sounds in unhearable frequencies to you humans on Earth.

Samos soon began to spend each minute of his free time with the baby. The parents decided on the name Actis for their newborn baby. Arises began to recover from the labor, and was soon able to move freely. The Hagai family had become one of the better off families, their son weilding a power that helped the crop income increase considerably, resulting in them becoming rich. The family was virtually, financially, and emotionally perfect.

Until the Hora-Quan Plague struck the city.

The Hora-Quan Plague was a nasty sickness that erupted when the Hora-Quan, or Metalheads, appeared. It was much like your world's Bubonic Plague. But worse. It would cause the skin to fester and boil like it had been dipped in hot oil, then those would fade. The second part of the sickness sometimes wouldn't occur and it wasn't contagious, but it was, in fact, terminal.

Arises had reached the second stage of the sickness.

Remardis stood at the side of the bed as he watched, unable to do anything, as the love of his life slipped between life and death. Samos, who was now an adult at thirty-four, watched with misty eyes. Actis, who was now seventeen, wept uncontrollably and pleaded that she fight through it. And indeed she fought. But it was a lost battle.

She had passed away near to the end of the plague. Hundreds died, and thousands more scarred. That's when the Metalhead Wars began several years after. Thousands more had died in the wars, including the father. A new ruler, Baron Praxis, had also took over and banished the previous ruler, Damas, to the Wasteland.

Actis and Samos Hagai had lost everything except the manor and the money. They decided to make the best of it. They worked the plantations and kept the crops going, but Samos seemed out of it. He seemed, more interested in what was truly going on in Haven City than making money of growing crops. His strange behavior went on for a year, and then he vanished.

The Hagai manor was soon uphanded by the Krimson Guard, leaving Actis on the streets.
