 The Big Bang Theory – Fact or Fiction?

The Big Bang Theory is the most widely publicized and accepted theories as to how the world came about. The scientific theory of the formation of the Universe is as follows; the Universe sprung from an infinitesimally small, infinitely hot and an infinitely dense something called a singularity. Where did the singularity come from? Why did it appear? Those are the two crucial questions that render scientists speechless. They simply do not have an answer to it. Yet they find it easier to believe this theory rather than the concept of having a Supreme creator.

Scientists try so hard to defy the existence of God based on the fact that it is blind faith and in the process they lose sight of the answer every time it seems to be within reach. The fact is that a universe of such vastness is beyond our conception, and sadly so is the answer if you’re relying on pure science. Science cannot answer all the queries that arise in this complex world, as rightly said by Albert Einstein, one of the greatest scientists in history. Science is flawed unless paired with something else. The more scientists delve into it, the more they realize how little they know and the deeper they penetrate it the more they realize that their previous theories were thoroughly flawed.

Now for sake of demonstration, if you saw a stunningly accurate model of the planetary system displayed perhaps at a science exhibition and they were to tell you that it wasn’t made by anybody, would you believe them? Would you find it possible to accept that it wasn’t made by anyone but just happened to come into existence by the expansion of, let’s say some atomic particles that aren’t even visible? The answer is, no, you wouldn’t.

If we cannot believe that a representation of this world, a mere model, could have sprung into existence on its own, how are we so quick to assume the same for a universe of such vast proportions? Using sheer common sense the idea of a matchstick having sprung from an atom or of this very article having been written by nobody is highly unrealistic and unbelievable.

So how is it that we are so easily able to assume that the whole universe, consisting of numerous galaxies, solar systems and planets that are infinite in number and so beautiful in creation, doesn’t have a creator?

Alright, even if we were to assume the non-existence of God patronizingly, is the Big Bang Theory really plausible? Let’s consider the concept of cosmic fine-tuning.

The first factor is the ‘Speed of Earth’s rotation.’ If the earth rotates too quickly, then we will have too many storms such as tornadoes and hurricanes. If it were to rotate too slowly, then it would be too cold at night and too hot during the day. So the speed of the Earth’s rotation is so perfect that if it were to vary the slightest bit it would have diverse and unfavorable effects.

The second factor is ‘The right size of the Moon.’ The single large moon has the effect of stabilizing the rotation axis of planet Earth to 23½ degrees. That is the ideal tilt for life on planet Earth. The axis on planet Mars moves through a tilt from zero to 60 degrees and flips back and forth. If that were to happen to Earth, life would be impossible. Thanks to the Moon, it is held stable at 23½ degrees.

The third factor is ‘The position of Jupiter.’ It takes a super massive planet like Jupiter, located where it is, to act as a shield, guarding the Earth from cosmic collisions. We don’t want a comet colliding with Earth every week. Thanks to Jupiter, that doesn’t happen.

Considering all this it seems amazing to even consider that everything just happened to fall into perfect place by an unproven and un-provable cosmic accident. Atheists try to explain fine tuning by invoking the multiple universe theory, saying that we just happen to be in the universe where everything is suitable for our existence. There are many other theories as well but they all suffer the same crippling drawback; they are simply unproven and un-provable. They better fit in the realm of fictional science than factual science.

The greatest and most successful scientists have concluded the existence of a Supreme creator. Science has not made them atheists as rightly quoted by Maxborn, Nobel Laureate in physics, ‘Those who say that the study of science makes a man an atheist must be rather silly people.’

 

In fact science proves to make most scientists believe in the existence of a Supreme creator as quoted by Louis Pasteur, Founder of Microbiology, ‘Little science takes you away from God but more of it takes you to him.’

So we can conclude that the deeper you delve into the workings of the world, you will be forced by science to accept the existence of God, the Supreme Creator. Besides, as an open minded thinker you have two options to choose from, about the origin of everything – a dead, insentient, unintelligent singularity or a living, thinking, intelligent designer? Just because we are not able to perceive something doesn’t prove its non existence. The concepts of life having begun from a singularity or it being a creation of God are both concepts that are beyond time and space and beyond anything that could ever be proven by science. In the end it is not a choice between rational science and blind faith, but between blind faith posing itself as science on one side and common sense misrepresented as blind faith on the other.
