It was quite a wonderful place. The shimmering water, the way it glistened in the sun. The seagulls gawking above me. The wind was a perfect breeze. It felt so magical. Like I have been here before. Just that tingiling feeling inside of me. I just knew it had to be real.
But then.... reality hit. My alarm, to get up and dressed for school, had just went off. It was my first day here at Palm Beach High School. "Hurry up and get ready for school or your going to be late!!!" My mom had hollered at me from downstairs. "Okay mom!" I had said as I was getting out of bed.
My family and I had just moved here from Corpus Cristi, Tx. I really didn't know what to wear for my first day here at Palm Beach High School. So I decided on a floral pink and blue shirt, some torn blue jeans and a blue jean jacket. I scurried to my restroom to fix my light brown hair with purple streaks into a high ponytail. After fixing my hair I brushed my teeth, applied some mascara and put on my black converse. Once I was all set I went down stairs to the delicious smell of my favorite breakfast dish....Pancakes!!!! As soon as I was done with my breakfast. My mother was rushing me to get my backpack, and violin. She was pushing me out the door and into the car.
We lived a few miles away from the school so we were almost there. As we were driving to school I was looking outside the car window. All I saw was the glistening water, palm trees, and the native birds flying around. I had lost track of time by just admiring outside the window. Before I knew it we were already at the high school. I'm in the ninth grade, and my mom still wanted to come down with me to walk me to the principal's office. When we walked into the school, my stomach churned. I was very nervous to start school in the middle of the year.
The principal's office was in front of us. When we walked into the office my mom was registering me into my school schedule. My first class was music, second was theatre arts, third was algebra, fourth was biology and fifth was history. The Principal's name was Mr.Williams. He had my guidance counseler show me to my classes. Before my guidance counseler Ms.Summers showed me to my classes, my mom told me "Have fun, be good. I'll see you after school!!" I replied with "Okay, bye mom!!" My mom works at a doctors office, so when she left she was probably in a hurry to get to the office.
School starts at 9:30 a.m. and ends at
4:00 p.m. First period had just begun when Ms.Summers was taking me to class. Ms.Summers was asking me if I had any questions about the school. I answered "No, well...not right now." She seemed like a nice, caring, and helpful women. We then arrived at the door of my music class. The door was decorated with music notes, instruments of all kinds, and a quote that read "Music is what feelings sound like" When Ms.Summers opened the door to the class everyone was staring at me. I felt like a fish with no friends, a loser in a crowd of people. The teacher was teaching the students how to play a G-scale on the violin. When all of a sudden the teacher looked up to see me. She had gotten out of her chair to greet me. She said "Hello, I am Mrs.Morales. What's your name?" I replied "My name's Phoebe Morning."
