Snow crunched under Rosalie's boots as she ran through the woods. Her heart was heavy and she needed time away from her family, away from Edward. The mindreader had overstepped his boundaries, and the blonde needed time to herself, to gather herself, so to speak. It frustrated her and her family to no end, that Edward was unable to keep his gift to himself. All Rosalie wanted, was for the damned mindreader to have an off switch. Was that too much to ask for?
It was no secret that Edward and Rosalie would butt heads. It was a common occurrence. Edward thought Rosalie was too high maintenance, too self absorbed. Rosalie on the other hand, saw Edward as a constant irritation, a thorn in her side, an utter annoyance. And to think, Carlisle thought her and Edward would become mates. Oh, irony.
It was times like these, when Rosalie would go shopping, but being in the middle of nowhere, thanks to living with the Denalis, shopping, wasn't an option. Instead, the blonde ran through the woods and decided to hunt. Hunting, would benefit her in the long run and it allowed her to vent her frustration in a destructive manner.
The vampiress tied her golden locks into a tight bun and leapt high onto a tree. Her gold eyes darted through the darkness and she concentrated on the local wildlife. Two miles east was a group of deer; four miles west, a pack of coyotes; a mile north, a bear, and three miles south, a moose. Unlike her mate, Emmett, Rosalie wasn't too fond of bears, their blood was too gamey. Deer blood was pleasant, but she needed something with a bite. She's had moose blood on a few occasions and the thought was tempting, but the coyotes, they were her first choice.
Rosalie leapt from tree to tree and within a minute, she was hovering above the pack of coyotes. There were a total of five and she could easily feed from three of them. She was getting ready to leap from the branch she was perched on, when something out of the corner of her eye, caught her attention. Three coyote cubs emerged from the bushes and charged at what Rosalie figured, were their mothers.
The vampiress watched with a heavy heart as the cubs nestled into their mothers' fur. The coyotes walked away and she slumped onto the branch, allowing her legs to swing in the cold breeze. Her thirst was forgotten and she became depressed. She wanted a child of her own more than anything else in the world. Even when she was human, she wanted a baby, a loving husband, she wanted it all. Life of course, had different plans for her, and Rosalie was still grieving. Not only was she still grieving her lost humanity, she was also grieving the children that she never birthed and the grandchildren she would never have.
On more than one occasion, Rosalie had thought of what her and Emmett's child would look like. Would they have her hair or Emmett's gorgeous black locks? What about their eyes? Would they be a cerulean blue like Emmett's or would they have a violet tint like Rosalie's? And if the baby was lucky, it would have Emmett's deep dimples and her impeccable looks.
Rosalie leapt down from the branch and began walking back to the Denali's house, which was a little over a hundred miles away. She wrapped her arms around herself and felt venom pool behind her eyes, causing an unpleasant stinging sensation. The vampiress stoped walking and she sunk to the snow covered ground. Her sobs wrecked through the forest and she desperately clawed at the frozen ground. Why me? What did I do to deserve this? Rosalie pondered.
A strong breeze filtered by and with it, the scent of human blood. Rosalie tensed and felt her throat become aflame. The scent of blood became stronger and the vampiress picked herself up off the floor, and she walked away from the scent. She walked ten feet when she stopped. Something was pulling her, telling her to follow the scent. Yes, she was hungry, but it wasn't hunger that was telling her to follow; no, it was something different, something more powerful.
