Chapter 4: Another Day Another Job

    As I enter the town im greeted by a bald man in a leather jacket smoking a cigarette. "Hey hold up new guy you can't go through GoodNeighborwith out some insurance." I pause for a second, is this guy for real I'm in full power armor I mean its rusty but does he seriously think he can take me. "What do u mean by Insurance?" I answer cautiously. "The type of insurance that'll keep you off my radar so why don't hand over all your stuff and I'll let u by." I pull out my plasma pistol and point it at his head. "Why don't you let me passed reguardless or that cig ain't gonna be the only thing burning." T5 beeps and charges his laser. "Woah, Woah, Woah alright, alright you called my bluff I'll leave you be man just chillax." He moves to the side and a few ghouls around the area start to laugh. I keep my pistol on him as I pass by him.
    I head further into the little town as I notice there are ghouls in nice-ish clothes walking around with tommy guns. Maybe he wasn't kidding about needing insurance, probably just mot his type though. A turn a left corner and see a building called Hotel Rexford, maybe its still a hotel. As I walk towards the building all I see are ghouls with maybe one or two normal people around. I walk up to the counter and theres a lady behind the desk sitting down. "This still a hotel?" I ask taking my helmet off and setting it on the counter. "Yeah you need a room its 125 caps a night." That seems a bit steep. "Works for me." I count out the caps and go upstairs to the room she told me.

    I exit my power armor and leave it in the corner of the room. "T5 begins recording." T5 emits a high pitched beep. I sit down on the bed facing him. "Enclave Office Derrick Adams Wasteland log 126 I've arrived in a town called GoodNieghbor bought a hotel room for the night seems safe enough." I've also found out that there are super mutants in this area as well, which is definitely shocking to find out." "Annnnd on top of that I heard rummors of a boogie man" I hold up finger quotations. "This Institute could be interesting and honeslty might be my next move, it actually be the next best thing from the enclave from what I've heard, advanced technology and isolated? Sounds like a proper home from out here." I sigh and stand up. "But first I need some supplies so I guess its back to merc work for me until i can get a lead." I wave my hand at T5 and he sends a low pitched beep signaling he stopped recording.

    The next day I put my power armor back on and go to the front desk. The same lady is there even more tired than yesterday. "Alright I'm leaving thanks for the room." She ignores me and goes back to her book. "Hey real quick anywhere I can find some work?" "Ugh you mercs are all the same just go check the bar." "Thanks I guess." I enter the bar, the place basically filled with smoke and reeked of alcohol so bad the stale air got through my air filtration on my helmet. Plenty of people are already drinking and mingling other heckling the singer in the red dress on stage. I make my way to the bar thats being serviced by a mister gusty model. "Know anyone that needs some work done?" He turns one of his eyes told me while cleaning a glass. "Afraid not suprisely not a lot of people go to yours truely for jobs these days." Well im so glad your sarcasm function works." "Thanks you sir now do you want a drink or just to talk my audio receptors off?" "No thanks I'm good." I take my helmet off and put it on the bar while i drink my nuka cola. A minutes later a woman and a small girl walk up next to me. She looks at me a bit nervously and stutters a bit. "Y-you said your looking for a job?" "Yeah how'd you know that?" "Sorry I was listening to your conversation with the robot." "Whats the job and how much is the pay?" "Well I cant pay you much but I've got about 200 caps." I set down my drink and face her directly. "Thats okay i guess but whats the job?" She looks around nervously. "I need some to take us to diamond city its only about an hour walk through the city." I stay silent for a moment. "You want me to take not one but two people through a city overrun with super mutants? And on top of that I just got here I don't know anything about the area." She looks around mostly towards the door as if shes watching for someone. Then she sinks her head. "Yeah I guess thats true but I've got no else to ask." Hmmm she seems worried about something maybe its not safe here for her. "Do you know how to- " A loud bang comes from the upstairs entrance. The woman takes a step back as I turn around to see what happened. The same man enters the room staggeredly with a beer bottle in his hand. Seriously he's already drunk its not even mid day. He looks around then notices me and stops and drops his bottle on the floor. "HEY TIN MAN YOU EMBARRASSED ME YESTERDAY!! I-ITS TIME TO PAY UP!" "Listen I really not in the mood right now and I-" He pulls out a gun from his holster and aims it toward me. He notices the woman behind me. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THIS ASSHOLE." She starts to move away from me and starts to speak nervously. "I was just getting a drink hes was just standing there talking to the robot and-" "BULLSHIT YOUR DEAD TO ME NOW!" He raises his gun and I quick move in front of her ducking slightly to protect my head with my arms around them to protect them from gun fire as he shoots 5 rounds into my power armor. "Not so tough now that i scratced your fancy tin suit huh!" Rage fills my face as my vision blurs slightly. She looks up at me with a worried expression. "Its fine just don't hurt him." He starts to walk toward my back. "Man you ain't so tough at all ARE YA!" I feel something break off the back of my armor as chair falls in pieces around me on the ground. I turn around to him laughing and looking around the bar for someone to laugh with him. "See that! HE AINT NOTHI-" I grab him by the head and pick him up with the extra strength of the armor and slam him into the table shattering it. He lies on the ground rolling in pain as he moans half conscious. "Ugggggggh" I turn around the see the girl behind the woman standing there in shock. I take a deep breath and grab my helmet. "Come on lets go before he wakes up, if he can even stand when he does." I start to walk towards the door as they follow behind me.

     (I know I've been MIA for a LONG time but I wasnt expecting this story to get so many views so I didn't keep up with it then I felt rlly uninspired so we'll see how long it goes this time I guess hope you enjoyed the chapter)
