Chapter 3:
Fear does this thing, where it turns your blood cold. It makes your whole body freeze up and you're incapable of movement.
Well at the moment, I was a statue. Deep in this cold and pitch black basement, with nothing but my imagination to guess what was masked within the darkness.
I was sweating and shivering at the same time, my blood pumping and legs quaking. I was terrified of what was to come next. I had been caught trying to escape, the one thing you do not do when escaping.
My body was bipolar and my mind was a mess. I think the waiting for whatever to happen is worse than the whatever.
When the door to the basement opened I jumped ten feet in the air. My already accelerated heartbeat accelerated about a million times more.
I watched as his silhouette descended down the stairs, completely paralyzed as he came closer to me. My breath was caught in my throat and all I could hear was my own blood pumping.
I pressed myself as far back against the wall as I could, ignoring the cold seeping in through my dress. My breathing was ragged as he approached me.
He came to a stop about a foot away, the light filtering in from the door up the stairs giving his smirk a sinister look.
"So," he said, causing me to jump, "it seems to me that you think you can escape, and that you'll just get out of here scotch-free. Huh".
He began to pace back and forth, making me anxious.
My eyes flicked to the open basement door, which was a mistake on my part because that only seemed to make him angrier.
Within seconds he was holding my face tightly with his rough hand, squishing my jawbone painfully.
"You're going to learn who's in charge here"
My breathing stopped and the screams began. I was kicking and yelling and begging him to let me go but he continued to drag me deeper into the blackness of the basement.
As he dragged me along I kept bumping into things I couldn't see, crying out in pain and begging him to stop.
"SHUT UP" he screamed pushing me backwards into what felt like a metal chair.
My sobs were silenced and a harsh white light blinded me for a few seconds. When my eyes re-adjusted I let out another scream.
Covering the floor and the chair I was sitting on was dried up blood. I was terrified and got up as fast as I could only to be roughly pushed back onto it.
"Please, don't do this!" I sobbed.
"SHUT UP" he screamed , smacking me hard across the face. I tasted blood in my mouth.
My screams turned to whimpers as he decided what to do with me.
The pacing began again.
"No, no, I don't want a huge mess" he said quietly talking to himself. My eyes widened and I lifted my legs up onto the chair and wrapped my arms around them.
I hid my head behind my legs and let the tears silently fall. What did I get myself into?
"Hey" he said loudly, making me jump ,"I didn't say you could fall asleep". He looked at me menacingly and I was paralyzed.
"I-I wasn't falling a-asleep" I said weakly.
"Are you talking back to me?!" He screamed smacking me so hard my head whipped to the side and I saw white spots.
"No!" I chocked out through my pain.
"No what?!" He screamed grabbing me by my hair and forcing me to look at him.
"No I wasn't falling asleep" I cried out, begging, hoping this would end soon.
"Wrong answer" he said throwing me back into the chair. He walked into the darkness and I didn't dare move.
I heard rustling and metal clanking while I sat in the chair shivering from fear and coldness.
I should've just stayed in the room.
He emerged with rope in his hands. I immediately knew what he was going to do with it.
"No, no please" I begged, tears welling my eyes.
"What part of SHUT UP DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?" he roared , back handing me for a third time.
He shoved his hand over my mouth to silence my cries while he used his other hands to make skillful knots bounding my arms and legs to the chair.
When he was done he let go of my mouth and stepped back, admiring his handy work.
"So," he began, "Since you seem to be having trouble understanding how things work around here in gonna set down a few ground rules."
I let out a little whimper because I knew the only thing to come was pain.
"First rule, when I tell you to be quiet , I MEAN BE QUIET" he screamed throwing a punch at my face.
I screamed , the pain piercing through my jaw and the taste of blood overwhelming my mouth.
"Second rule, you will refer to me as sir" he said , throwing a punch with his other hand.
The pain was tremendous, my body was begging for an end but there didn't seem to be one in sight.
"Third rule, you will do what I tell you, when I tell you, as I tell you, and no other way" he stooped down to my eye level, making me squirm to get away.
He looked confused for a second before turning to anger and smacking me again.
"Third rule, if you ever, and I mean ever try to run away again you're gonna wish that this was your punishment again" grabbed my cheeks and got in my face. He went to caress my cheek but I had had enough of this.
I spit blood onto his face.
"DO NOT DENY ME. I AM IN CHARGE OF YOU , YOU WILL OBEY ME!" the anger he possessed made my naive thoughts flee and my fear for my life sky rocketed.
The hits began.
Punch.
"YOU"
Punch.
"BELONG"
Punch.
"TO"
Punch.
"ME!"
The last punch hit me so hard the chair knocked backwards, making me land on my head onto the concrete .
The darkness that came for me was very much welcomed. I succumbed to the darkness and let everything slip away.
