Hyora blinked in confusion.
Did that just happen, or was she dreaming?
She turned around, and sure enough, Chanyeol was walking with his back to her. He kept walking, and as the distance between them increased, the terrible mix of sadness and relief swelled inside her.
Baekhyun was wrong, she thought. Chanyeol's about to ask someone else.
But where was he going?
Meters away from her, the only people she could see was a group of three girls. Wait.
They were seniors, and Taeyeon was one of them.
But Chanyeol couldn't possibly be asking Taeyeon. He wouldn't betray Baekhyun like that. Tiffany was an unlikely prospect either. So if it's not them, then it's...
Hyora watched as Chanyeol approached them. The three girls eyed him with interest, but the one in the middle looked particularly more enraptured.
Finally, he stood in front of them, offering the bouquet to... "Seohyun-ah."
People who happened to be around started taking their phones out to capture the scene, expectant of Seohyun's answer. But Hyora didn't want to know what she'll say. Unlike everyone else who was drawn towards the scene, Hyora withdrew from it, walking back to the opposite direction where she was heading to earlier.

A few months back, during their stay at Gangneung, Chanyeol had asked her who she was going with to the winter ball just because he was "curious".
"Who are you going with to the winter ball?"
She remembered how nervous he had been as he was working up to ask her that question, like he was even embarrassed. But he couldn't just be curious. There had to be a reason why he had to ask her that.
Then the day after they got home from that trip, when she and Chanyeol walked to the bubble tea shop to meet Luhan, he had asked her if she and Baekhyun were romantically involved with each other because he'd seen them all cozy one night.
