6. The Best Day

I walked into the kitchen and made myself a cup of tea. I was really not in the mood for doing anything today so I called in sick for work saying my voice wasn't particularly at it's best and it needed rest. I slumped on the couch with my tea in hand and watched Law and Order SUV. It was fitting seeing as Detective Olivia Benson the cat was curled up in a white ball of fuzz on my lap snoring softly.

The house phone rang and I couldn't be bothered to get up. I wasn't expecting anybody to call and I didn't particularly want to speak to anyone right now, so I let it go to answer phone. "Hey Honey, it's me. I was just wondering if you wanted to go out for lunch today? Your fathers out of town so it'd be just us. Call me back when you get this? Love you" It was my mom, and she didn't sound her usual happy self. I really didn't feel like leaving the house but I thought I'd better go and see what was wrong. I called back from my mobile ad arranged to meet at our favourite cafe in an hour giving me enough time to get ready.

Upon arriving, I saw her sat at a window table gazing out at the traffic. Her hands were tapping the table as if something was bothering her. I ordered two coffees noticing she hadn't bothered to order and a slice of fresh Victoria slice to share and then joined her. "Hey mom," I smiled weakly, and leaned over the table to hug her.
"Hey sweetie! How's your day?" She looked up at me as I sat down in my seat.
"Not great..." I mumbled.

I told her everything and there was no way I was going to hold back on this emotion flooding through me. "Harry called last night" her face fell and she took my hand apologetically.
"Oh honey," she sighed, "you'll find someone who treats you right...you mark my words..." Her voice was sincere but wobbled slightly. I didn't get a chance to ask her what was wrong with her and every time I did, she would change the subject. After that we spiralled into ordinary conversation until our cups were empty and we parted ways.

Later that day I got a text message:

B: Hey! I really enjoyed our beach date yesterday ;) I was wondering if you wanted to go out for a meal with me...tonight? Beau x

I immediately texted back:

T: I'd love to :)

B: Great! I'll pick you up at 6.

It was already 4pm so I decided to jump in the shower and pick out my outfit. I decided on a black knee-length lindybop dress with a red belt, black heels and a red cardigan. Drawing on my winged eyeliner and spreading on my red lipstick, then straightening my hair, I was ready to go.

The doorbell rung as I reached for my black handbag and opened the door to greet a smiling Beau holding a single red rose. He was wearing a shirt, blazer and black jeans. I blushed as he handed me the rose and kissed my cheek. I put the rose in a small vase and we headed out of the door.

He took me to this beautiful Italian restaurant an we sat down at a table by a lake as fairy lights in the trees glistened above us setting the most romantic setting possible.

"This is great," I sighed as we sat down in our seats.

"It's beautiful huh? Just like you," This was quite a cheesy line, hwoever, I found it to be charming and my cheeks turned a scarlett red at his compliment.

We chatted about all sorts as we ate our delicious meals. He told me he was half Italian and that this was his favourite restaurant in LA aside from Nandos. Then we decided to take a stroll through the city of Los Angeles, hand in hand, which seemed even more beautiful than before with all of the brights lights, busy people and noisy traffic. I didn't even care to bother about the paparazzi lurking to capture the latest stroy on my love life but I did notice that there were none and I was slighty confused as to why.
