Ok, so hi. This is my first story and I'm not very responsible with keeping up with new things I try, so if I give up on this, I'm sorry /~\ also I'm sorry for any spelling/grammar errors I may have ^~^

"Ashley! Why are you going so fast?" I called out to her, watching her halt a little further up the sidewalk as she almost tripped over a stray branch. Ashley spun around, her wavy, strawberry blonde hair wrapped itself around her slender body for a split second before she swooped it all behind her, twirling it once and tying it back. It reached a little under her butt. Fall made her look even more beautiful.

She adjusted her glasses covering a pair of beautiful sparkling green eyes, then pulled her light blue tank top down over her shorts as she shouted back, "I just wanna get to the park already. You promised to push me on my swing." She crossed her arms and pouted. When I caught up to her, she grabbed my left hand and started dragging me along to go faster. "Come on, Drew! Hurry up!"

Laughing at her I said, "Ashley, the park isn't going anywhere and besides, we've got hours before the sun starts setting." Yet even as I said this, I still sped up to keep up with her pace.
"I know. I know, but I really wanna get on my swing," she checked her watch as I glanced at mine. "It's already 12:37! By the time we get there all the little kids will have taken the swings!" She look flustered and panicky as though she cared a lot about getting on the swings. She started running and I followed close behind, getting to the park a few minutes later.

Unfortunately, it was too late. There were children everywhere. I told her we could go to another park, but being the carefree, childish 14 year old she was, she just demanded to go home if she couldn't ride 'her swing'. We ended up sitting on the bench for a little bit to rest before heading home. She glared at me as we sat on the bench. I adjusted my skinny jeans and t-shirt, as Ashley tussled my straight, dirty blonde hair, still glaring at me.

I turned to her glaring face and chuckled, "I'm so glad your my best friend." She flushed and shyly smiled back. I knew she liked me. She knew I liked her. We had both agreed it wasn't meant to be. I'd soon find out it was never meant to be.

I got up and extended my hand to her, helping her up. "Are you ready to go? We can come back tomorrow. It's only Saturday."
She frowned and nodded, "I guess..."

As we started heading back I turned to look at her. She looked pretty bummed about not being able to swing. It was 2:17. She turned to look back at me. "Yes?"

I smirked, "Wanna race back to my house?" A wide evil grin spread across her face.

"Anything goes?"

"Sure. I don't see why not." We stopped and I counted down. "Three. Tw-" She shot off, "HEY!" I shot off after her, running across the park. Within seconds I caught up to her and ran past her, following the winding sidewalk down Odyssey Drive. I passed Oak Street. Wind in my hair. Cedar Avenue. Heart pumping. Forest Drive. Breathing heavily. Meadow Lane. Feet pounding. I stopped a few feet before reaching Faery Court. I turned around to see how far back Ashley was. To be completely honest, I completely forgot I was racing her. I got caught up in the thrill and excitement of running that when I turned around and saw her almost crossing Meadow Lane I smiled in accomplishment.

As she began to cross the Meadow Lane, time slowed down. A screech. My blood ran cold. A honk. I sprinted towards her. A shriek. It was too late. Glass shattering rang in my ear, but the sound that I remember the most other than her bloodcurdling scream that day, would be sound of a single thud as her body landed on the concrete floor. Lifeless. Soon, everything was still. I stopped, dropping to the floor, hands in my hair, feeling so lost and confused. I couldn't tear my gaze away. Everything became blurry. Wait, no, it became watery. It was silent, yet for some reason my ears were ringing. As a matter of fact, my throat was starting to hurt. I was screaming. I couldn't stop. It wasn't silent. You could hear the sirens. You could hear my screaming. You could see her lifeless unmoving body. My best friend was gone. My world had no floor. No bottom. Just an endless feeling of free falling in place. I sat up in bed screaming.

"ASHLEY!"
