Happiness is a fragile thing. One slip up. One misunderstanding and it can simply... Snap like a broken toothpick. Try as hard you will, but it can never go back to how it was.
Sooyoung was a proud girl. Always ready to give back to what she believes in. It gives her joy to perform as a member of Red Velvet but once she met another singer by the name of Taemin, a small spark was created.
The entertainment industry was cruel. If they were to found out they were dating someone, their career can be kissed good bye no matter how famous they were. Sooyoung was to no exerception and kept her feelings in but with Teamin, she felt different. She was in a cafe she used to drink with him as she idle around to escape the training room she almost fear of returning to. Today, was one of those days that almost no positive comments from her fans could push the negatives away until she did what she did.
She logs off. She sips slowly the iced latte from her common cafe in Gangnam one ordinary evening watching the newest drama playing on the television screen between Shen Yue and Mark, two familiar figures she knew as 'friends'. Sooyoung sighed.
They were definitely friends, actors on the silver screen but they had to act as if the were in love which both never official claimed to ever experience but have they? They play as a couple, teasing each other, make up and kiss but, the life as a celebrity doesn't let you okay those scene in reality, do they? Another sigh left Sooyoung, this time frustrated than tired, she poked the ice with her straw agitatedly hoping her boredom disappear.
Wendy's ringtone alarmed the ifemale from her idle and immediately she answered her cellular. "What's up?" she asked the older female.
"Practice is in another hour. Where are you? Irene has been wondering."
"Just at the usual place."
"That place? Joy, stop waiting for him, will you?"
"You're harsh, unnie."
"I'm-" Wendy felt guilty. "It has been what? 5 months? Are you still hung up on him?"
Silence fell on the other line. Sooyoung wants to say yes but she knows it was wrong and must say no. However, nothing came from her.
"Listen, we're here for you."
"I know."
Wendy's sigh echoed over the call. "Don't be late."
Their call ended and replacing her words were lyrics from a song by Harry Styles. The drama playing on screen has turned to MTV Hits. She wasn't the most affluent in English but she knew what "I can't take it back, I can't unpack the baggage you left." He is also probably correct about her falling into a dismissal she wasn't ready to acknowledge.
"Sooyoung..." he managed to say. Taemin broke a sweat. "Why are you here?"
Sooyoung, after her practice marched to Taemin's shooting location where he was busy working on a music video. To his surprise, he was not expecting her to come at all. It was unheard of but what bothers him the most is probably the reason Sooyoung was holding her phone so tightly onto.
"You can't even reply to my messages even once?"
He bit his lip. There wasn't an excuse.
"A-aren't you even happy to see me?" Sooyoung's voice came out more as a tremble this time.
"I am really busy, Sooyoung. I really am."
"That's a lot of bull, Taemin."
"We will resuming film now!" Called the direction and Taemin's eyes darted towards the set while Sooyoung almost had tears in her eyes, staring at the man she fell in love for. She stormed away as quickly as she could before the male could stop her. Without her knowledge, he did try.
