Chapter 2:Umbrella

In July 1968, Edward is infected by the Progenitor Virus anddies. His son Alexander succeeds him as the 6th head of the family.

In August, Umbrella seizes control of part of the African ruinswhere the Progenitor Flower flourishes from the indigenous Ndipayatribe. The African laboratory is established. The Umbrella TrainingFacility is established in the Arklay mountains on the outskirts ofRaccoon City. Dr. Marcus is appointed as the first director.

In February 1969, Alexander begins planning for the constructionof the Antarctic base. The laboratory for the classified project"Code: Veronica" is secretly established underground.

In June of the same year, Umbrella's African laboratory iscompleted, with Bailey appointed as director, and in November,Umbrella's Antarctic base and laboratory are completed.

In 1971, The Code: Veronica project is finally successful. TheAshford family twins Alfred and Alexia are born.

In 1977, Albert Wesker and William Birkin are assigned to theTraining facility as prospective managers. In December, five casescontaining the Progenitor Virus are shipped to Dr. Marcus from the African laboratory.

In January 1978, Dr. Marcus succeeds in developing the "T-Virus".In July, The Training Facility is closed. Wesker, Birkin, and theT-Virus research is moved to the Arklay Laboratory. Dr. Marcuscontinues researching independently.

In the 1980s, the African laboratory succeeds in cultivating theProgenitor Virus. Under strict supervision, the African laboratorybecomes the sole supplier of the virus.

In July 1981, Alexia graduates at the top of her class from arenowned university at only 10 years old. She is appointed seniorresearcher at the Umbrella Antarctic laboratory.

In March 1982, Alexia administers the T-Veronica virus to herfather Alexander, resulting in failure. Alexander is officiallyreported as missing.

In December 1983, Wesker researches secondary T-Virus infection.He begins to have doubts about Spencer's projects. Alexiaself-administers the T-Veronica virus and enters a 15-year cryogenicsleep. Officially she is declared as having died from an infectionfollowing an accident.

In 1987, Michael Warren is elected mayor of Raccoon City.

In 1988, The T-Virus project continues under the leadership ofBirkin. The Tyrant, the ultimate B.O.W., is developed. The NemesisProject commences at laboratory 6 in Europe. Wesker assassinatesMarcus under orders from Spencer.

In 1991, Umbrella begins construction of a gigantic laboratoryunderneath Raccoon City. Spencer approves Birkin's G-Virus project.The project begins. approves Birkin's G-Virus project. Wesker isreassigned to the Department of Intelligence.

In February 1991, South American drug baron Javier Hidalgo obtainsthe T-Virus from Umbrella. He administers the T-Virus to his wifeHilda in an attempt to cure her of local disease. Hilda istransformed into a creature as the virus rampages through her body.He informs the local community that his wife has died.

In December 1991, the Soviet Union falls and Sergei Vladimir iscontacted by Umbrella. As a perfect match for the Tyrant, he submits10 clones of himself to Umbrella, and is made a manager.

In 1993, Raccoon City police chief Brian Irons begins colludingwith Umbrella. Birkin is reassigned to the Raccoon undergroundlaboratory.

In December 1993, Alfred graduates from a UK university and isappointed director of the Antarctic base. As an Umbrella manager, heis also appointed commander of the Rockfort Island base. The RockfortIsland Anti-B.O.W. force training facility is completed.

In 1994, John is reassigned from the Chicago laboratory to theArklay laboratory as Birkin's successor. Alfred constructs hisprivate residence and prison on Rockfort Island.

In 1996, The special tactics unit S.T.A.R.S. is founded under thejurisdiction of the Raccoon Police Department. Wesker is appointed ascaptain. Hunk (a future Umbrella special operative) undergoestraining at the Rockfort Island training facility.

In May 1996, Waste accumulates at Umbrella's exclusive wastetreatment plant due to a large increase in the amount to beprocessed. Untreated contaminants leak.

In May 1998, A mimicry of Dr. Marcus appears at the UmbrellaTraining Facility. The Cerberus claim their first victim. Thedismembered body of a 20-year-old woman is discovered. A catastrophicviral leak occurs at the Arklay Laboratory. The laboratory isdecimated.
