The Shadow That Dances

I looked to my left to look out the window. It was peaceful to look out at the deer. My ear twitched when I heard soft footsteps leading down the stairs I quickly turned my head to see Shikaku standing at the bottom of the stairs. He gave me a raised eyebrow before walking over to the table. He sat down and I quickly saw the recognition flash through his eyes. He looked at my plate before looking back at me, silently suggesting I eat but instead I pushed it to the side. "Hello, Mia right?" I raised my own eyebrow " you sure?" He sat back "Mia, so what do I owe the pleasure?" I looked at the hall way to see Yoshino staring at me, probably thinking about how I look like my parents "i need permission to move out of my parents house" he just stared at me, who knows what running through his head. " Can't you ask your parents? If I remember currently they are both still alive." I frowned before leaning back in my chair and taking a bite out of the wonderfully displayed pancakes with blueberries and syrup " I havent seen either of my parents since i was 4 years old, they probably think I'm dead" i heard Yoshino take a quick sharp breath. I could tell she wanted to protest, scream and yell. She probably would if she wasn't in shock of seeing her bestfriends daughter. "What do you mean Mia?" I took a small bite "like I said I havent seen either of my parents since I was four, they are never here, always on missions." He frowned before standing up and grabbing a shoji board and setting it up for a round. " play with me while I decide" I gave a small glare, "no, I'll stop by tomorrow after my training for your answer. I know you'll investigate" I gave a small thank you as I walked out the house. I quickly headed to my parents house straight to the training grounds they had out back. I quickly started the field course jumping, avoiding flying kunai, running against the walls before quickly avoiding the large blades aimed to slice me in half. Once I landed I quickly activated a seal to change the course before starting all over. A good 4 hours passed by before I headed back inside to make myself some dinner. I knew our clan head would investigate and he would find something he wouldn't like. Like the attack, the fact that my parents havent stepped into the village for so long, the fact that I've been on my own. Maybe even that Hiro's family was more important to me than my own. Maybe he'll find out even more but I knew I had no choice if I wanted to get away from here. All I see is empty space, no happiness, just dead space. I was thinking of getting a dog when I moved out. I knew I wouldn't be sent out for higher rank missions so quickly. I eventually sat down to eat before walking to the front yard and sitting down. I allowed my eyes to turn black as I began to manipulate the shadows that lay on the floor. When I opened my eyes I noticed I had a shadow wolf standing next to me. " please check on Naruto, today seems like a rough day for him" he quickly nodded and disappeared. Naruto was a good friend of mine. Sometimes he would sleep over since he was lonely. I met him while I was training to "teleport", I was just moving from shadow to shadow and I ended up in an alley. Naruto was "hunting" for food and I decided to offer him some, allow him to take a bath and a place to sleep. After he left to explore the village I asked him not to mention me to others, I wanted to be a ninja and to do that I needed to train in stealth. He agreed, he actually ran into the Hokage the same day and he was given an apartment but he still stopped by twice a week to sleep over. I walked back inside and quickly made myself some tuna mix with vegetables amd placed half in a container for tomorrow and decided to sit down with some water to eat the other half now. To be honest I knew it would take me a while before I could be settled in my new place to live. Naruto, Hiro and I all agreed to buy a home together, fix it up and live together. While it most definitely would drive away the loneliness we would have to work really hard to become better shinobi and to make enough money to do so. Luckily with us being in the academy it allowed us to be eligible to conduct D rank missions confined in the village. Luckily for us but not the village, they always had far more D rank missions than possible to give out. We had naruto using this as training. He would use a henge around the civilians to avoid any conflicts and we would do the same. Hiro said his mother's friend was willing to teach us the shadow clone jutsu once we graduated so all three of us have been waiting for that. Miro the shadow wolf returned with some bad news. Naruto was tricked by the traitor Mizuki and was now reporting to the Hokage's office. I gave a quick thank you but I was having a panic attack. One of the only family members I have was in danger, fought again a chunin and was being taken in for punishment for stealing from the village...I could feel the walls closing in, my breath was shaky, my body was trembling and all I could think about was to get to Naruto and keep him safe. And that's exactly what I did. I stepped into the shadows and allowed it to consume me and I jumped back outside the hokage office. While I knew the door was open and others where present I didn't care. It was unimportant, instead I launched my self at Naruto and began checking him over. Doting over him, confirming he was alive and well, making sure he wasn't bleeding to death. I was in such a panic I didn't notice my clan head standing with the Hokage watching me. I register Naruto's voice telling me he was okay but I keep checking him over. I used my medical chakra to run a basic diagnostic, not perfect but enough to know he wasn't dieing from internal bleeding. Once my body and my mind registered he was okay I hugged Naruto as if my life depended on it. I'm sure he was turning black and blue from the lack of air. Luckily for him the Hokage provided some mercy and was able to pull me away from suffocating him. Once that was done I stared at the Hokage resisting the need to run and hide. I had used all this time to hide and stay out of sight and in my panic I threw it out the window. Shikaku asked me to wait outside. While it was asked, it was heavily implied it was a statement. Eventually Naruto came out screaming about how happy he was to become a shinobi and was being paid for a solo A rank mission. Naruto mentioned I would have to set the alarm so we can avoided being late to class tomorrow which didn't go unnoticed by Shikaku.
Once Shikaku gave me the clear sign to begin walking Naruto began ranting. "MIA, does this mean I don't have to wear all this orange anymore?" I looked over at him before giving a small scoff " not while on missions but I would still use it. It's good for your stealth" he gave a vigorous nod before mumbling about how he has to find something embarrassing for us to wear" only made me chuckle but I was on alert since Shikaku was behind us. I knew that he already figured out Naruto was always around my home since he knew how to get there.

Team 7 was Sakura, Naruto and Sasuke
Team 8 was Shino, Hinata and Kiba
Team 10 was Choji, Shikamaru and Ino
Then the rest of the teams were given out.
Team 11 was 3 civilian children
Team 12 was a Kiro Aburame, Hira Hyūga, and a civilian named Miro Asura
Team 13 was all civilians which wasn't a surprise since 70% of the graduation class was civilian.
Team 14 was Hiro Asuka, Mia Nara, and Juro Arura.
Well I'm happy I was on Hiro's team and we also have a civilian on the team which means we have to see how much he actually knows. I don't remember him having good grades, but we can always learn more, adapt and hopefully make sure he doesn't die.
