A week has passed by since we kissed but the feeling is still there. I don't know what's going on in her head because she seems a little different from her usual self. She is maintaining a distance from me and doesn't talk in between the breaks. My wedding preparations are also going on in full swing. In less than 2 weeks I'll be a married man. I feel terrible inside but have to maintain a happy face for the world.

Time has flown by and my wedding rituals has started. It was my haldi. Everyone was there including Pratiksha. My mother was the happiest. She came to me and applied that turmeric on my face with tears in her eyes. I wiped her tears as her happiness was the only reason I was doing this. One by one everyone came and applied haldi on me. It was her turn now. She was looking beautiful in a yellow salwaar kameez with minimal make up. Her hair was half clutched and a bindi was giving her a divine look. She took some haldi on her hand and applied it on my cheeks as I felt her soft hands. She applied on my nose too and I was happy that her old self was back. I took some haldi and applied on her cheeks too. She was glowing in that yellow dress and haldi complimented her look.

Finally the function was over and I was allowed to wash myself. I was going to take shower when she came into my room. I was just in towel and she was standing there in front of me. The moment she realised our awkward situation she turned away.

Pra: What are you doing like this? Have the decency to lock the door.

Aks: Oh so I should have the decency to lock the door but you don't have the decency to knock the door.

Pra: Ok I'm sorry. I was just in a hurry to give you your outfit for tomorrow. Your designer came in and handed me this. Take it and see if the fitting is right.

Aks: I'm so fully covered with this turmeric that someone can put me in milk and drink it. You keep the stuff here. I'll see it later.

Pra: Ok but do it quickly. I have to inform the designer too.

With that she started walking backward to keep the clothes on the bed but in one swift motion her leg slipped and she fell in my arms. I ran towards her and caught her from behind. My one hand was on her waist and the other one was holding her shoulder. Her hair fell on my naked chest and I could feel some tickling.  She grabbed my neck by her one hand. Her eyes were closed and her forehead has a frown. I was observing her face like she was my some thesis under study. Slowly she opened her eyes and realised she hasn't hit the ground. The frown disappeared. We were so close. A strand of hair was blocking my view of her beautiful face so automatically my hand went towards her face gently touching her cheek. I tucked the hair behind her earlobe. She realised our intimacy and started to move away from me. I realised it too. We drifted away and now there was an awkward silence.

Aks: God has given us eyes at the front so that we walk forward not backwards. I saved you otherwise you would have fallen so bad.

Pra: Yes thank you. I was just trying to not look at you.

Aks: Why? Am I naked? I have a towel to cover my sanity. Come on Pratiksha we are friends.

Pra: Yes I know. I should now leave.

My act of coolness failed but somehow I managed to cut the silence. She was gone but I could still feel her in my arms. Why god is doing this to me? I should not be feeling anything for her but everyday I fall more for her. Tomorrow I'm getting married and I have to let go of her at least for Shweta's sake.
