KATIE'S POV
"I'm not going to beg you..But you need to get motivated! It's a new year, a new chapter in life. Some people didn't wake up today.Be thankful God gave you another year to live!" My mom says.
"Oh god mom, I don't need to hear one of your "go out explore new things" speeches every year! Obviously it's a new year, you're not going to feel different! If I want to better myself as a person...I will..just not right now..it's 6 a.m. and I am not in the mood to hear you lecture me.Thanks but no thanks." I say in the nicest possible way.
"God Kat, I pray for you. You really need Jesus in your life." She says, walking out closing the door quietly.I swear that woman needs to realize we only live once. We can't spend our days lecturing. If she really wanted something to be done, she'd make a move. Actions do speak louder than words.
···
I enter the doors of my school and look for the detention room.Someone passes by me.I turn around.
"Excuse me, but do you know where the detention place is?" I ask.As reckless as I am,I've never gone to detention.
"Here, I'll show you." She says waving her hand signaling me to come.I follow her to the back of the school where it smells like something died. She knocks on the door.A pug faced middle aged lady opens the door.
"Katie.Katie Liszt. Yes, we've been waiting, why don't you join us." She says taking a strong grip on my arm.
"Excuse me, but I will not allow you to touch me inappropriately. " I say shaking my arm loose. She looks at me and points to a seat.I take my seat and sigh.Suddenly someone elbows me.I look over to my right to find a smiling Nash.I instantly slam my head on the desk infront of me.He chuckles.
"Why are you laughing? You do realize you're the reason I'm here." I say turning to face him completely.
"I know, and I'm sorry.I really am, and if it makes you feel better...I have two of these to go." He says speaking low.
"It's fine." I say with a huff.
Nash is my childhood friend.I've known him since age of two.He was always a sweetheart. .but that changed. At age 13 Nash was exposed to drugs. And ever since then he's been hooked on them. It's become a daily thing now.He can't go a day without drugs.I've tried to help but he doesn't want it.I'm actually starting to get worried. But the worse part is..his parents don't know. I know. .his brother, Hayes knows and a few of his exes know. .other than that..his parents think he's a normal teenager.I've asked if I could tell his parents. .but he always says quote "if you ever told them.our friendship would be over.if I want to tell them..i'll tell them myself. I don't need anyone's assistance." And being the suck up friend I am..I haven't said a word.
I push myself closer to him.Immediately I smell heavy smoke.
"Really Nash, what the fuck?" I say angrily.
"What?"
"You can't just come to school with drugs."
"I've done it many times. .I have yet to be caught."
I gather his hands with mine.
"Nash, babe, I love you sooo much..but really you need to stop all of your shitty drugs."
"Katie. .we've been friends for the longest. .I don't want to end our friendship over my addiction to drugs.." He says holding a tight grip on my hands.
"Please just stop..I'm worried you'll get sick sooner or later...I'd hate to see you get ill over something that could have been stopped...Just promise me you'll stop." I say looking him in his piercing blue eyes.
