Ruins
Athens, Greece
I grip the ledge with all I've got, struggling to pull myself off. I knew I shouldn't have tried this without James! He's the rock climbing expert! I scold myself. "Jaimy! You do know a girl named Tamsen is hanging off a cliff, right? Because she doesn't want to die!"
"What?" I hear him exclaim. "Where are you?"
"If you are where you were a moment ago, go a few feet forward and look down!" my hand starts to slip. "Hurry! I am freaking slipping!"
A few moments later, his blond head peaks out above me. "Hang on!" he holds his hand out.
"Oh, and I didn't know that already!" I yelp as my hand slips even more. I look down and gulp. Below me, hundreds of feet down, is an ocean, and wind keeps slapping me in the face. "If I even lift my free hand," I wave my right hand, "above my head, I. Will. FALL!"
"Just, hang on," he repeats.
"There's the hang on again," I mutter under my breathe.
He reaches down and grips my arm, giving me the ability to reach up the grab his arm. After a few torturous minutes of us nearly losing our grips and Jaimy coughing and nearly sending me down to the watery depths, we struggle onto solid ground, panting.
"Are you okay?" he asks, sitting up.
After I recover my breath, I join him, sitting up shakily. "Well considering I nearly fell to my death moments ago, yeah, peachy."
"What were you doing anyways?"
"Uh... trying to climb down for exercise while you swam," I grin. "I didn't do to well, if you didn't notice."
"You climbed down the face of a mountain?" he exclaims.
"Yes, I am insane, I know," I echo his thoughts.
"Insane? Insane? INSANE?! What were you thinking?!" he jumps up, seemingly recovered and now angry at me.
"Woah, I know what I did was stupid, but really, even being that angry is much," I remark, smirking.
"You just smirk after you nearly just died?" his left eye tics.
"Thank you, by the way, for saving me," I say as an answer of "yes, I do".
He just stomps off to the mountain lake and jumps in, still in his clothes. Oh yeah, he swims in his clothes sometimes. He's usually sopping wet. "What? And jumping into water with your clothes on isn't crazy?" I sigh in exasperation. Guys... I'll never understand them. After removing the ponytail holding back my dark hair, I get up and walk over to the lake. I plan on getting revenge.
Thinking that train of thought, I pull off my leather jacket, revealing my bare arms. I have on a white tank top. Pulling down my skinny jeans a little so that they're sitting on my hips, I saunter over to where Jaimy dove into the water and bend down, my long hair coming down in waves around my shoulders. "Oh Jaaaiiiimmmmyyyyy..." I call down in a flirty voice.
He surfaces, blond hair plastered to his head, looking like he wants to snap at me. He stops with his mouth open, gaping at me like a fish. "Uh..." he trails off. "Uh... umm...."
I lean in closer, letting my hair drape over my right shoulder. "Hey," I grin, "What's up?"
He keeps gaping. "Um... swimming?"
"Mind if I join?" I try to look not so threatening. For effect, I giggle.
"Well, okay..." he sounds distant, and he's staring at my chest.
"Goody!" I run onto a rock over the lake and swan dive in, making a huge splash. I surface, my hair sticking to my head and shoulders, and my white tank top now see through.
He's frozen in shock. He is sooooo not going to live this down. Ever.
I swim closer to him and grin. I am not stopping here. I go until our faces are an inch apart. He's totally oblivious. "You're so never going to live this down," I say in mock-sweetness.
He snaps out of it, and and his face gets really red. I dive under the water and flee to land. "Now since we're here for a reason," I point out, "let's not kill each other. We still have to find that world saving relic, remember?"
"It's predictable," James remarks, "Tamsen Croft going after an artifact," he gets out of the lake. "Just don't get us killed, please?"
