It was long. Much longer than Levi had imagined from what little he could see of its head. He had thought it was maybe twenty feet, thirty at most. It was closer to forty. And when it jumped, it covered nearly half of its length in a second. Levi reared backwards, putting himself in front of Jasmine, feeling her knife poke him in the back. She quickly withdrew it in surprise with a gasp.

"Wha Levi?" She had time to say before the snake was on them. With her at his back, Levi realized they had made a critical mistake. He couldn't back up any further. And she couldn't see with him blocking her view. Oh crap!

Hssssssssss

Serpentine coils surged, eating up the ground faster than any legs could. The beast's body was almost as thick as Levi's head, and its own head looked like it could swallow them whole. Dripping venom slipped out of its bared fangs as it tensed and then sprung up using the lower half of its body to propel its terrifying jaws at Levi. He felt Jasmine get out from behind him, trying to give him space by taking a step to the left. However, the snake shifted with her, tracking the movement. She only has a dagger! She can't block THAT! Levi suddenly realized as he looked down the gaping mouth of the lunging predator. Instead of backing away, he took a step to the left as well, placing himself in front of her once more, and raised his sword, hacking forward. The snake's mouth slid onto his blade, and he switched his slash into a stab, pushing into its mouth! As he did, he felt juicy fluids drip down on him, and the snake's massive fangs, fully the length of his forearms, came jutting in on either side of him. The bottom of its mouth collided with his stomach and its sheer ferocity and weight pushed him off his feet onto his back, pinning him. Jasmine dashed out from behind him. Tried to go for the eyes. Always smarter than me! Levi thought. What was I thinking?

The snake writhed, swinging from side to side, and Levi felt his elbows rub up against the edges of its hard fangs. Even through his clothes, the venom burned as it seeped through and touched his flesh. What is this thing! He struggled to push the blade in deeper, extending his arms to their full distance. Pink blood dripped out of the roof of its mouth as it hissed horridly in frustration, its tongue, almost as large as he was, rolled away from his sword as he shoved it deeper inside the creature's jaws.

"Levi! Are you okay!" Jasmine yelled worriedly from the other side of its mouth. She tried to stab the thing's eyes with her knife, but it bounced off somehow. She missed? As the beast began to thrash even harder, Levi felt its weight jerk his sword side to side and he struggled to keep it straight. The weight of the beast was crushing his body, its head was on his lungs, and even that alone was suffocating. Can't...breath! Levi continued to try to work his blade deeper, but it was no good, the thing's mouth was too tough. His blade might even be touching its skull for all he knew, but he wasn't making any progress.

"J-Jasmine! Help!" He said, before realizing his mistake as he ran out of air. His vision throbbed red at the edges, and he opened his mouth instinctively to try to gasp for oxygen but his lungs wouldn't open so he just wheezed like a fish out of water. Jasmine's voice grew desperate but he couldn't understand what she was saying, his brain was turning all fuzzy and hot. It was unbearable, he needed air! I don't want to die here! His mouth opened in a silent scream. Then lightning sprung out of his hands and up his sword into the roof of the monster's mouth!

KRAAANG!

The beast jerked once, twice, shuddered weakly as its brain melted. Levi felt the strength leave its body, as the whole thing went limp. Unfortunately, that just concentrated more of its weight on his chest and his hands dropped off the handle of his sword as he lost all control of his arms.
