Kirishima was overcome with happiness, the sun was beating on his skin. He anticipated the tan he'd earn from a an entire evening spent beneath it. The smell of salt infiltrated his nostrils and filled his head with a fuzzy lightness, at its familiarity. Distant sounds of seagulls circled above him and his fiance Bakugou. Who was effortlessly carrying both their bags, cooler, towels, etc... all with one arm, the other was holding Kirishima's with the other their palms were sweaty and slipping from the extreme heat, but neither released their grip.
This was just the kind of atmosphere they needed. It took a ton of convincing on Kirishima's part to convince Bakugou to "spend a day relaxing". So, Kirishima didn't dare call it a vacation or anything synonymous with it because they were pro heroes afterall and what kind of good hero would go on holiday? All Might most likely, so with that thought in mind maybe it was for Bakugou benefit after all.
By Bakugou's logic, they could spend all their off time sparring since it was summer, perfect for toning their bodies-even more than they already were- but Kirishima knew when to take a step back. He knew even more when Bakugou needed to, even if he didn't.
So they were just going to take a trip to the beach, Kirishima didn't specify what that would entail, of course, Kiri knew vagueness was his friend in regards to Bakugou. The less detail he gave the less Bakugou had to work with when constructing an excuse.
See? Kirishima wasn't all hair for brains.
Kirishima was gawking at every little thing, made apparent when Bakugou began tugging on his hand. "How about helping me set up instead of checking everyone out?" he growled. Kiri snapped out of his daze and flashed Bakugou an unbothered smile raking a hand through his hair left to its natural flat length.
"I promise I'm only checking you out babe." he reassured. Which made Bakugou flush a light pink all the way to his chest. He was gorgeous, which wasn't anything new, Bakugou was absolutely divine, there was no one on this beach or anywhere else that could compare to him. It took all Kirishima had to focus all his energy into assembling beach chairs, and shaking out beach towels.
They laid out on the beach blanket right beneath a palm tree that provided shade for their faces and enough sun for bathing. It was perfect, just far enough from people to make Bakugou happy. The last thing they needed was some crazed fanboy asking for autographs on their day out. Having thought such a thing made Kirishima realized that Bakugou was that fanboy deep down.
If All Might was on vacation, Bakugou wouldn't hesitate to get an autograph from him regardless, not that All Might would mind. A tinge of guilt hit him then, as pro heroes it seemed they still had some growing to do it seemed.
Bakugou laid out with his arms behind his head resting his eyes immediately. Kirishima breathed out a smile, Bakugou cracked open an eye at him and grunted out a: "What?" Kirishima shrugged, "You look relaxed."
Bakugou shrugged, "It's hot."
"You're hot." Kirishima tells him, not that he needs to. They're engaged, they are far past the need to express their feelings in such a blatant manner, but Kirishima finds that he can't help himself.
Bakugou closed his eyes and frowned, "Shut up shit for hair." Kirishima chuckled and lays on his stomach his face hovering just above Bakugou's. His eyes became slits as he eyed Kirishima questioningly wondering what it is he was planning to do.
Kirishima's eyes flick over him once and lays at his side. They bake for an hour or so sharing light touches from time to time. At least until a large cloud shields the golden sun from the two's skin for awhile. The beach drones to a small humming, distant sounds of laughing and talking accompanied with wooshes of wind rustling the palm trees overhead. It's then that Kirishima realizes that he must be in paradise.
He peered over at Bakugou from his spot and suspects that he must have fallen asleep and he feels at peace. Bakugou worked so hard, in some ways almost too much but that was just one thing that he wouldn't change so instead he would settle for remedying it. If he was to be his husband some day it was his job to ensure that he relieve the tension.
A massage sounds really nice. He thought with a wolfish grin, maybe Bakugou would give him one in the hotel room, maybe after a warm bath or a dip in the hot tub, followed by some love making. That would be the cherry on top of a perfect day.
Kirishima looks at Bakugou's peaceful face, it's a good look for him, but again it wasn't like any look was particularly bad for him but it was definitely welcomed. His eyebrows twitched every once in awhile, his steady breathing filling and emptying from his chest, his lips perfectly still and untouched. Kirishima would change that.
He leaned over rising a finger to his face carefully as if he was in risk of awakening a sleeping grizzly. He was a brave one though so he dived head first into danger and touched his lips tracing them gently with his finger, becoming ever more daring as he continued. He began to touch his cheeks, his chin, his nose admiring every crease and crevice every perfect imperfection. His heart swelled with all the unspoken confessions, the only way he could release such built up feelings was to place an equally gentle kiss on his forehead. He stamped his lips there and whispered from his heart, "I love you so much Katsuki Bakugou."
Bakugou's eyebrows furrowed and he slowly opened his eyes, "That's it?" he almost hissed. Kirishima surprised by the fact that he was awake so quickly and glaring. Kirishima struggled to recover, "What do you mean? I wasn't going to ravage you why you were asleep that's a bit- creepy, don't you think?"
Bakugou didn't respond, at least, not with words. He pulled at Kirishima's hand from his spot still on his back, awkwardly Kirishima fell onto his chest and Bakugou leaned in for a kiss. Kirishima could only laugh. "What are you laughing about dumbass?"
"You could have just asked, babe." he said not able to suppress a goofy smile. He happily complies soon after and kissed him. It sends delicious shock waves into his head, shoulders, and nether regions... he brings his hand to hold his cheek as he properly kisses him. There like that for some while. Kirishima felt as though they are the only two on the beach like this.
He wanted this so bad, and it just felt too good knowing that Bakugou was feeling the same way. He pulled away and rested his forehead on Bakugou's, still beaming. Bakugou looked relaxed eyes heavy as they looked into his easily.
"Are you happy?" he asked Kiri as if it isn't evident from all the smiling he's done up till this point, but he still answers. "Yeah, are you?"
Bakugou nodded. That's all Kirishima needed to see.
"I'm really happy to hear that. I wanted this." Kirishima tells him. Bakugou nods again reaching to take a strand of Kiri's hair between his fingers. "I only want to be alone with you like this." Bakugou tells him. Kirishima holds his chest as if he might go into cardiac arrest.
He was sure this wouldn't be the last chance they had to unwind. To just forget about everything else, the heroes, the citizens, even the villains. In the end, those things would never cease to be. But these moments, the ones that made it seem as if nothing else mattered were few and far between. Which was good because Kirishima wasn't sure his heart could survive if days were always like the one he had that day.
The trip from the beach to the hotel room as the sun set on the horizon made it feel as though Kirishima was gliding on thin air, his brain sliding side to side from inside his head. He'd never forget this "vacation" as long as he lived.
