I feel it now. It's behind me. I don't know how long this creature has been watching me, only that I've grown used to the sensation of eyes burning into my back(mostly). All my life, I've felt this sensation, yet sometimes the terror still gets the best of me. It's in those moments, where exhaustion seeps into my bones and I can no longer convince myself that these things are all in my head that The Unseen makes itself known.
It casts a shadow, yet cannot be seen. Not with my eyes at least. The Unseen wants me to know it's there, relishing in my dread. I used to think the creature was a figment of my imagination; that is until the whispers of footsteps became pounding against glass and wood. Fearful what-ifs became detailed nightmares, vivid and tangible. Burning eyes became physical sensations, first small touches and then scratches and bruises littering my body.
I've never seen him, yet I know exactly what it looks like. Tall and thin, you can see every bone protruding from its frame. It stands around six feet tall, I assume. I don't really know as his back is hunched and bowed as it crawls on all fours. The Unseen's body structure is like a person's, yet feral and grotesque. It has a humanlike face as well, with sunken cheeks and prominent cheekbones. With a jaw that hangs open, revealing thin, needle-like teeth and blood red gums. Long talons promise pain but nothing is more terrifying than its eyes.
Its eyes are a burning amber that glows in the dark, piercing in their intensity, yet that's not what makes them so terrifying. The clarity of their expression makes the glowing orbs seem so human, like they don't belong on the face of a beast. These human eyes are filled with such rage and malice all one can think of when they see them is death of the most horrible kind.
I don't know what the creature wants from me, but I do know that it's not good. I've tried to identify it, but can't. All I know is that once you've caught its eye, you're already too late. There's no way to escape the unseen enemy. The game it's playing with me is going to end soon; I can feel it. The creature's actions grow bolder and more violent each night and I can only run from it for so long before it catches me.
