Chapter IV : Brian speaking

Brian's  PoV :

I sit opposite the site I like the most in the world .. Looking at Samantha ..
She feels unreal at times ..pretty is too small a word to describe her ..she is beautiful and her small smiles just make you smile back. Her beautiful blue eyes look like they belong to the most innocent soul ever ..
I have always liked her ..since forever..

Though I have had my fair share of girlfriends none could match upto the sweetness that Samantha possessed...and the very same reason made me pursue her knowing she was Stella's best friend.

We were in sixth grade and she was like.. This Stella's -pretty but- really- quiet friend ..she was living with her mom a few blocks away from us .

Stella mentioned it once that her father was a drunk and would beat both of them up and later was found drowned in a lake nearby.. Reluctantly but few months later we became friends and soon family friends too..

Christine was like a second mom to us and after our parents tragically passed away in an accident in the ninth grade she and Samantha were the only people in the world who were with us ..

I told her about my feelings on Christmas that year when we were in high school... But I think she was too naive to actually understand that my feelings were deep and I have always had her on my mind.. She brushed It off as mere attraction...I always thought that the experience with her dad had made her not like any man anymore.

All the years that we spend growing up we were the trio including Stella ,me and Sam  until Harold entered the picture ..

He was the school basketball captain and had his eyes on Sam since he had seen her at Stella's bday party that same year.. He wooed Sam off her feet with flowers and sweet words and promises.. And poor Sam fell for every word that he spoke.. thinking it could be her happily ever after!!

My blood still boils at thinking how badly that bastard dumped her for the college whore.. We had a fight .. A huge one but his gang overpowered any resistance that I had ..

And Post Harold it was all the more tough to get through the walls Sam now had built around her heart.. She ran a mile away from relationships or believing any other man for that matter.. But I was okay with bidding off my time until she was ready to accept me in her life as more than a friend ! I knew she felt something for me but was too scared to come to terms with them..

NOW

After finishing the burgers that both of us had she fished out her phone to call up her mom and Stella to give the great news.. I still can't imagine that she's going to be in this city and working just few cubicles away from me..

'Hey Stella .. I have the best news in the world 'she chirped in the phone

' yes.. I got the job stel.. It's awesome .. There was a small hiccup.. No no .. Nothing to worry about .. Just yet!! Hehe.. Yeah I want to speak to mum.. Hey...hi mom... Yes mom I got the job.. Yes .. God has been great .. Yes  .. He is here with me.. Sure mom.. Love you and you take care .. Yes I will tell him.. Love u mum.. Take care..

Looking at her happily I wait for her to end the call .. I'm so glad that she got this job .. I really, really wanted her to get it as it would be a chance for me to be near her  ..

' hey how did they take the news.. How is Christine ..' I asked

' oh Brian they both are fine and on top of the world .. Stella was actually on cloud nine  with the amount of screaming that she was doing!! Mum is doing fine and I'm sure she's happy as hell.. She gave you her much thanks '
Samantha said clapping her hands together

' please Sam don't it make it so formal .. We are almost family .. It was my pleasure to help you in any way I could ' I completed

'Come on .. Now let's get you back home before it's too late .you may also need to ready up your wardrobe for your work starting Monday ' I told her .

'Yes sir ' she mock saluted me ..

We left the building after me signing an hour off As I had already spoken to my head of department for the same.

As we exit our building .. I couldn't help but catch a glimpse of Mr. Reese coming out of the office building himself and heading towards his car when his gaze zooms in on Samantha ...' Shit this is bad'  I think ..

There is a slight shift in his gaze ..,a change in his rigid demeanour ..he lets his gaze linger a little more on our hands clasped together and with that he enters the car and drives off...

Surprised and shocked at the same time is not enough to describe what I am feeling right now... I'm dead sure that he recognised Samantha from their earlier mishap and knowing Mr. Reese all these years.. it is hard to believe that he didn't take any action as soon as he spotted her..

A little weird for the business magnate as he is known to be most ruthless in all his handlings and whatever I had come to know of the little accident from Samantha.. It was definitely not what he would forgive and forget ..

' come on Brian .. What are you waiting for '
.. Samantha's lovely voice interrupted my thoughts ..

'Yes' I only mumbled in her direction and
And we drove off to Paradise cottage ( the temporary accommodation for Sam ) which was a good 15 minutes away..

Paradise cottage was the name given to actually a two storeyed apartment that was owned by Mrs Cindy Fulham, an old friend of Christine.
The old widow was sweet enough to allow Samantha to stay on minimal rent until she could find a proper job and could pay her properly.

'Hi Mrs.Cindy' both of us greeted her .

Acknowledging our presence she inquired looking towards Samantha ' hey kiddo did you get that job you went for '?

' yes Cindy .. I'm so happy and thanks to you too.'.Samanth replied and hugged Mrs. Fulham.

' please don't mention it once more kiddo.. Your mom and I are the oldest pals .. That's the least I could do..' She answered smilingly.

' okay ladies .. I should take your leave.. Have to get back to work'.. I told them about to leave when Sam caught hold of my arm and I had to stop.

'I don't know how to thank you enough Brian ..how could I ever forget this huge thing you did for me ..it's difficult to really repay you So you could just allow me to cook for you once .. Right !

.. Oh god.. Why don't I die at this very moment I think.. ' yes sure ' I rather reply keeping my emotions in check.. How can you just say otherwise to that..

I don't know why Mrs Fulham walks away In a huff ( did I hear a grunt? ! ) I feel like she is not really happy to see me ..old women and their moods ..

nevertheless !..we decide on a Dinner over the weekend !!

Almost A DINNER DATE ..

I don't want this to end.. I don't want this feeling to end.. But I have to be back at work and waiting for five days to see her would be a torture.. !
