PROLOGUE

My life isn't what i want it to be. Then i realize no ones ever is. I feel like an adult and im up in that range with them, then i look back and realize im 16, still a little girl. But i, on a daily bases, worry about things like what if i don't findthe right career for me or college or marry the wrong guy. Id always been diffrent, was more mature, i listen to Norah Jones and Micheal Bubble while my peers where memorizing the new lil' Wayne album. i liked to read had thoughts of being a writer which few class mates even knew about me. if they wanted to know anything at all. also i wasn't just diffrent on the inside but the outside too. i looked distinctively older for my age -never good-but that all changed a few months ago.

CHAPTER ONE

"Holly! Hey Holly! Hold up!"

i turn around instantly responding to the sound of my name, only to see my best friend Rachel running up the hall. i could see pure excitement on her face. She was wearing her favorite shirt, a long blue tunic that had a v-neck cut, it was the shirt i had given her for her birthday a few months ago. along with some blue jeans and tan sandals made her blond hair and blue eyes a deadly weapon against the male society at our school, but Rachel had Adam, they were soul mates.

"Holly? Hello?! So can we, please?!" Rachel said breaking my mind babbling.

"what?" My brilliant response.

"can we go to the opening of the Empty space tonight? Adam and John" the guy they were trying to set me up with "are going and the want us to come along."

"Why? Besides its a school night and were too young to go clubbing." she obviously hadn't thought that far.

" That's the easy part." she pulled out two little plastic cards. "one for each of us." i had a sick feeling in my stomach. she had thought that far.

"No."

"Why?!" she asked devastation written all over her face.

"Because. No."

"Stop being such a goody goody." she had no clue what i was like. what i used to be at least.

"Im not." I defended myself " I just don't want to go to jail, and that's exactly were those" i said pointing to the cards "are going to get us. Last time i checked fake IDs were illegal."

"Come on! We won't get caught i swear on my life. These are the best in town. Please we haven't gone out in forever" she whined as we neared our fourth period class. Biology.

"Thats  because last time you got drunk and started singing Lady GaGa at the top of your lungs." I smiled at the memory. my smile diminished quickly. Rachel getting drunk wasn't the only thing that happened that night.

"Ehhhh. We didn't get caught. My mom was totally oblivious." It was true, but then Rachel's mom wasn't always the smartest apple in the bunch.

"That doesn't mean we should do it again." I said not completely there.

"How can you say that were teenage girls. That's exactly what it means" A few months ago i would have agreed. when i didn't answer she kept quiet. We sat down at our tables, i could see Adam-who was her bio partner-taking a look at her with those admiring eyes. My own partner Sophie sat down, she was a small girl with porcelain skin and blond hair with a streak of metallic blue down one side it set good with her gray eyes.

Mr.Garner walked in, a middle aged man around forty, gray hair, kahiki pants and a plaid shirt. Typical science geek, he came in the room eyes menacing, just as every other morning. Icould tell it would be a long period, and it was. We started chapter thirteen, a lesson on photosynthesis. After forty-five minutes of torture the bell rang. I met Rachel and Adam at the door, John met us in the cafeteria, school spaghetti was worse then the real stuff which was bad to begin with. i skipped getting a lunch that day.

We all sat down at our favorite table, a small booth at the back of the lunch room. I watched the boys devour the noodles like they were cookie monster in the chips' ahoy factory. Then of course little Rachel eating bite by bite. I drifted off trying to rethink what Mrs.Pam had said during class, we had a report due on colleges, which would include majors, great. Just great. i didn't know what i wanted to do with my life let alone what i would major in to help me get there.

"so Holly. Since you don't want to go out tonight how about a sleepover at my place? We could bake and have manicures and watch all those historian movies you like. How bout it?" i had to laugh at her referring to Pride an Prejudice and the young Victoria as historic.

A sleepover. That could be good. Just a nice relaxing night. I might even be able to convince her to go to borders- my favorite place, her worst nightmare- to hang at the cafe there. I wasn't exactly fond of coffee but i would have coffeehouse playing and I'd be surrounded by tons of wonderful books.

"Sure id love to. We'll just stop by my house first." I said smilling. her eyes lit up like i had just given her a puppy on christmas and i could help but chuckle a bit.

"Oh thats great! We will have so much fun!" She was practicly bouncing, we rarely had sleepovers. Adam who'd been quiet most of the time started laughing.

"What?" Rachel asked.

"Nothing. I just dont see why girls get all worked up over sleep overs." He looked at her and luaghed more seeing her confused face.

"it's becuase we can spill all the jucy guy gossip we accumulate over a weeks time, or in our case a months." i cut in smiling, he looked betweem me and Rachel then between me ans John. Side long i could see Johns eyes go wide and him give a slight smile. I smiled, John wast to bad, brown eyes, blond hair, and a tan muscular body from playing football with Adam all the time.
