It was that same feeling that I had yesterday, I felt too calm. But I have a feeling something bad is gonna pop up and ruin everything.
I rolled over and felt something warm. I open one eye and peek through me lashes. I see Brooks sleeping peacefully, I smiled. He looked so cute when he was sleeping.
He rolled over and he pulled me in closer, "Morning beautiful," he murmured.
"I've got to go to work," I said looking him in the eyes. Bad move.
"Do you have to go?" He said trying to kiss me.
"Dude, your half asleep, let me go to work," I said my hands over his face, smooshing it.
"No."
I grabbed the pillow from behind my head and hit him with it, "Let... Me... Go... To... Work..."
"How... About... No!"
I broke free and ran, cackling as I went, Brooks hot on my heals. I made it to then lounge, only to be crash tackled on to it.
My face down on the lounge, I couldn't breath so I turned around and before I could even catch my breath, he kissed me, a passionate one and I kissed back. He pinched me causing me to gasp in surprise and he took that opportunity to deepen the kiss.
There was a point when my eyes opened and i pushed him onto the ground. I moved to straddle him, my knees pinning his arms to the ground.
I leaned in to his ear in a seductive voice, "I win, let me go to work."
He just rolled his eyes and then flipped us again so he was on top, "Ok I 'spose so, but first," he said before planting a light teasing kiss on my lips, then he got of me and I got ready for work.

I sped out the drive, running half an hour late, because of Brooks, and I missed breakfast. I may have sped a little down those dirt roads, but I made it to work on time.
I didn't even stop by the house I went straight to work on the dapple grey. Today she was going to be haltered and parading nicely even if it killed me.

I stopped for snack around lunch, Maria, John's wife bought out my lunch. Even though it was coming into July, I was still hot, though by the way Maria was dressed in her big jumper, it must be cold. I had taken off my button up shirt off and had tied it around my waist leaving me in my white singlet. A thin layer of sweat had covered my body, this mare was really giving me a run for my money.
"There was a call for you up at the house, it was Brooks, you didn't answer your mobile, you might want to call him back, He sounded stressed," she said with concern. I nodded before jogging over to my truck. I grabed my mobile and called Brooks.
He answered with just one ring.
"Audrey!" He said in a stressed tone, "You need to come to the hospital, its Joe, he's, he's had an accident."

My heart stopped, "An accident, what kind of accident?" I said in a deathly tone.
"I-I-I can't explain it, you need to come to the hospital," he said, his voice close to breaking.
"I'm on my way, I just have to tell John."
I hung up then, and ran to the house. I was trying so hard not to think the worst.

I crashed in the door, stumbling as I went. John came out into the kitchen to see what all the noise was about.
"What's up Audrey? You look worried."
"Yeah, yes, I'm fine, I've just gotta go early, m-my uncle, it's, its, he's in hospital-" I was cut short as the tears started.
"Its fine just leave early, but I will see you tomorrow," he said with a smile.
" thanks you so much John, I will see you tomorrow," and like that I was gone, speeding down the roads towards the hospital.

I made it there in record time.
"Where is he?" I asked stressed to the lady behind the counter. She seemed to know who I was talking about and she gave me the number to his room.
I raced up the stairs to the room. I walked in and saw my uncle laying on the bed. Awake. I rushed to his bed side. Naturally I was freaking out.
"I'm fine kiddo, just a little fall," he said.
"Joe," I said in a stern voice, "what the hell happened."
"I fell off the barn roof, I was helping Brooks fix a leak. Funny fact the kid hates heights," he said with a quiet chuckle, "You should go and see him, I almost think he is worse off than I was."
I nodded and walked out of the room and towards where Brooks what seated.
"Hey," I said reassuringly.
He didn't reply he just muttered, rocking back and forth with his head in his hands,"... all my fault, I didn't mean to, I'm sorry," the sight of this broke my heart.
Taking a seat next to him, I rubbed his back soothingly, "It's ok no one blames you for what happened, I don't blame you."
