Everybody gasped. Layla started screaming even more and I heard a cry from where the parents were. My mother was weeping into my dad's shirt, as he embraced her in a hug.

Peacekeeprs rushed me to the stage, where Cici stood, bewildered.

"A volunteer! I believe we have a volunteer!" She exclaimed.

"What is your name dear?" Cici asked me, holding the microphone to my mouth.

"Brielle Hawthorne." I replied. "I'm thirteen."

"Wow. Who was that little girl, do you know?" She said.

"My cousin." I whispered.

"Okay. Time for the boys!" Cici yelled.

She sashayed over to the boy's glass bowl and dropped her hand in.

"CJ Rivers!"

A 16 year old boy ran up to the stage.

Cici dug her hand in again.

"Oli Mickash!" Cici called, unaware of the screaming parents.

Both Oli and Cj  came from the 16 year old section, but one came from the 13.

"Davy Thresh!"

My eyes widened. Davy Thresh? That boy I sat next to in school? The boy whose dad had died in the coal mines?

Davy walked up to the stage. His dark brown hair was slicked back, and he was wearing a simple gray pants and shirt.

Just before we were about to be ushered into the Justice Building, Bryanna ran up to the front of the stage.

"You know what!?" She screamed, her voice cracking. "I don't care that these stupid Capitol people are cruel and heartless! I don't care that they don't know what we go through everyday! What I do care about, is there cold-hearted people, throwing kids to fight to death! Until the ground flows red with blood, and they're bodies lay broken and beaten! I think it's time that these horrifying people know-"

She was shut off by the sound of a gunshot.
