HEY ALL!

So this is something I've had in my pocket for a really long time...and I'm thinking now is the time I finally feel confident enough to put it out there. It's a story that's very close to my heart, and I am hoping that I will be able to properly do it justice.

So first, a bit about the story... Statistics say that 1 in every 3 women has dealt with some kind of sexual harassment or assault. I didn't believe this until I started talking to my female friends, and I realised that almost all of us had been through something that can be described as assault, from what has been said to what has been done. And that knowledge was what inspired me to write this story. It's not about being assaulted, but more so what happens after - the trauma, the dealing, the healing, the struggle everyday after to move past being another statistic and not let the experience define you... the struggle to rise above.

Whether or not you like this story is not the point. But I hope as you read it, it provokes you to think - about the women and men in your life, about how you treat them, the things you do and say and how those things might make them feel, and I hope that attention never fades, that you're always mindful of each of those aspects... And if you are a survivor, I hope you find comfort in knowing, no matter how hard it is to put the trauma behind you, you are strong enough to heal from that experience and maybe even help others in that position make steps towards healing too.
