"The purpose of our lives is to be happy" - Dalai Lama

*****

There was something about the schools' newsroom that just always put me at ease. I can't pinpoint exactly what it is. Maybe it's the business of the room itself or the smell of paper that is constantly in the air.

Maybe it's the new computers that got donated to the school, where I am now sitting in front of as Marissa Han, the editor, stands at the white board in the front of the room.

Why did I have to be at school this early for a meeting of all things.

"Okay." She claps her hands together as she turns around to face us once again. "Here are some of the new articles we are planning to run in this week's paper. Now we just need people to write them. Also suggestions for more headlines are welcome."

Maeve is already waving her hand in the air before Marissa is even done speaking. "Well I think we should do a one on one interviews for the sports column."

Marissa raises an eyebrow, intrigued. "Can you elaborate?"

"Like maybe each of us could interview the Captains from each sports team. See how the start of the season is going, what they plan for the rest of the season and then also see what the coaches have to say."

Marissa is already writing a whole bunch of names on the board and when she's done I see that it's the names of all the different sports team captains. Josh among them, okay now I know why she suggested this.

"Okay so here are all the captains from both the boys and girls teams. So we have soccer, football, lacrosse, the dance team, track and field, wrestling, competitive spirit and so forth. Luckily about half of these have unisex teams so we don't need that many of you on this."

"I'll interview the captain of the soccer team." Maeve states enthusiastically.

And my theory was right, she just wants to spend more time with Josh.

"Actually I was kinda hoping that Charlotte could interview Josh." My head snaps in her direction, did she just say what I think she said. "Well you two are close right?" I nod my head and wait for her to continue. "Well I just assumed that he would give you a more real interview and less of a forced rehearsed one. So will you do it?"

I finally manage to find my voice. "Yes of course, no problem. I'll set it up in the week." She nods her head and starts giving the others their assignments, Maeve fuming that she got stuck with the captain of the girls' football team.

"Now we don't need long interviews about them droning on and on about what work outs they are doing and what sports diets they're going on. We need it straight to the point but natural." She turns back to the board when a small note on the corner catches her attention.

"Oh yes. Since most, okay all, of our photographers graduated last year, we need more photographers. I mean we can't be reporting and taking photos on our phones for the rest of the school year. And I mean Dianna can't exactly be in two places at once." She nods over to the petite figure sitting at the back, her dark skin flaring in embarrassment at the attention on her.

She's the only photographer we have at the moment and we've been l fighting to get a time in with her since most of us don't take the best pictures or have the best of phones.

I raise my hand up slowly, with a small smile on my face. "I think I have the perfect person in mind."

"No." Chloé says instantly as she shakes her head when we're walking to English together. "I'm sorry Char but what would make you think of me of all people?"
